SAP GTS (Global Trade Services) Senior Consultant

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced SAP GTS Senior Consultant to lead the design, implementation, enhancement, and support of SAP Global Trade Services solutions. The consultant will work closely with business stakeholders, functional teams, and technical teams to ensure compliant global trade operations, optimize cross-border processes, and support regulatory requirements including customs management, export controls, sanctions screening, and trade preference management.

The ideal candidate should possess strong functional expertise in SAP GTS, end-to-end global trade processes, integration with SAP ECC and SAP S/4HANA, and experience delivering large-scale transformation programs.


Key Responsibilities

Functional & Solution Design

  • Lead SAP GTS workshops and gather business requirements across global trade functions.
  • Design and configure SAP GTS solutions covering:
  • Compliance Management
  • Sanctioned Party List (SPL) Screening
  • Embargo Checks
  • Export Control Management
  • Customs Management
  • Trade Preference Management
  • Intrastat and Extrastat Reporting
  • Prepare functional specifications, process flows, and solution design documents.
  • Conduct fit-gap assessments and recommend industry-leading practices.

Implementation & Delivery

  • Lead SAP GTS implementation, rollout, upgrade, and enhancement projects.
  • Configure SAP GTS organizational structures, compliance settings, legal regulations, and customs procedures.
  • Support end-to-end testing, user acceptance testing (UAT), and deployment activities.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams including SD, MM, EWM, TM, FICO, and Logistics.

Integration Management

  • Manage integration between SAP GTS and:
  • SAP S/4HANA
  • SAP EWM
  • SAP TM
  • External customs and government systems
  • Define middleware and interface requirements using SAP CPI, PI/PO, or other integration platforms.

Compliance & Regulatory Management

  • Ensure adherence to global trade and customs regulations.
  • Support regulatory updates and legal changes across multiple geographies.
  • Assist business users in managing import/export compliance risks.
  • Design monitoring and reporting mechanisms for trade compliance activities.

Stakeholder Management

  • Act as the primary point of contact for business stakeholders.
  • Facilitate solution reviews and steering committee discussions.
  • Mentor junior consultants and support knowledge-transfer initiatives.
  • Collaborate with global teams across multiple time zones.

Support & Continuous Improvement

  • Analyze production issues and provide resolution.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and automation initiatives.
  • Drive optimization of trade compliance and customs processes.
  • Support SAP GTS migrations to newer releases and SAP GTS Edition for SAP HANA where applicable.


Required Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related discipline.
  • Master's degree is preferred.

Experience

  • 6-10+ years of SAP experience with at least 4+ years focused on SAP GTS.
  • Minimum 2 full-cycle SAP GTS implementation projects.
  • Experience in global rollout or transformation programs.
  • Experience working with multinational organizations.

  • SAP GTS Compliance Management
  • Customs Management
  • Export Controls
  • SPL Screening
  • Trade Preference Processing
  • Integration knowledge with SAP ECC and SAP S/4HANA.
  • Understanding of ALE/IDoc, RFC interfaces, and middleware technologies.
  • Familiarity with SAP Fiori and SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of ABAP debugging and enhancement frameworks is desirable.
