Consultant / Sr. Consultant – Java AI, Legacy Modernization Expert

Role Summary 

We are seeking experienced Java Engineers to support large-scale Legacy Modernization programs for enterprise clients. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, and modern application architectures, along with hands-on experience modernizing legacy applications. Candidates should have practical experience leveraging one or more AI-powered engineering tools to accelerate code analysis, refactoring, migration, testing, and documentation activities.

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Analyze legacy applications and support modernization, migration, and transformation initiatives.
  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable applications using Java, Spring Boot, and Microservices architecture.
  • Develop and consume RESTful APIs and ensure secure integration across enterprise platforms.
  • Leverage AI-assisted engineering tools to accelerate code analysis, refactoring, documentation generation, test automation, and migration activities.
  • Participate in decomposition of monolithic applications into cloud-native Microservices.
  • Implement security best practices using Spring Security, OAuth2, and JWT.
  • Collaborate with architects, product owners, business stakeholders, and cross-functional teams.
  • Perform code reviews, troubleshoot production issues, and optimize application performance.
  • Contribute to modernization roadmaps, migration strategies, and technical solution design.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies and mentor junior team members when required.

Must-Have Skills 

  • Minimum Java 8/11 (Streams, Lambdas, Collections, Concurrency, Multithreading)
  • Spring Boot, Spring Framework, Spring Data JPA
  • REST API Design and Development
  • Spring Security, OAuth2, JWT
  • Microservices Architecture and Distributed Systems
  • Legacy Application Modernization and Code Refactoring
  • Strong Problem-Solving and Analytical Skills
  • Experience using one or more AI-powered engineering tools such as GitHub Copilot, Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT Enterprise, Amazon CodeWhisperer, Cursor AI, or equivalent solutions

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Must-Have: Strong hands-on experience in Java (java 11/17+ is good to have), Spring Boot, REST APIs, and Microservices development.
  • Must-Have: Demonstrated experience in Legacy Modernization, Application Transformation, or Monolith-to-Microservices initiatives.
  • Must-Have: Experience actively leveraging one or more AI-powered development tools to improve engineering productivity and modernization outcomes.
  • Good-to-Have: Cloud modernization, container platforms, event-driven architecture, and DevOps experience.
  • Red Flags: Primarily support/maintenance experience, outdated technology stack, limited hands-on coding capability, poor communication, or no exposure to modernization initiatives.
