Your work profile 

 

As Assistant Manager in our Cyber Team you’ll build and nurture positive working relationships with teams and clients with the intention to exceed client expectations: - 

 

The Assistant Manager – Network Security for an MSSP (Managed Security Service Provider) is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the day-to-day operational activities of the L1 and L2 network security teams, ensuring smooth service delivery and technical support for multiple client environments. This role focuses on operational efficiency, first-line escalations, and compliance with defined security policies using technologies such as AlgoSec for firewall policy management, Cloudflare for web security, Palo Alto firewalls, and Zscaler ZIA/ZPA for secure internet and application access. 

The Assistant Manager plays a key role in monitoring team performance, ensuring ticket quality and timely resolution, and assisting in policy enforcement and change implementations. The role acts as a bridge between senior technical engineers and junior staff, contributing to team training, SOP adherence, and shift coordination. It also involves regular interaction with internal stakeholders and participation in client calls for operational updates and minor escalations. 

Firewall Support – Palo Alto (L2 level): 

  • Perform day-to-day management of Palo Alto firewalls, including policy configuration and monitoring. 

  • Create/modify security rules, NAT policies, and zone-based segmentation under guidance from L3 engineers. 

  • Troubleshoot basic firewall connectivity issues (ping, traceroute, app/service ports). 

  • Monitor firewall logs and device health via Panorama or device GUI. 

Policy Management – AlgoSec (L2 level): 

  • Use AlgoSec Analyzer to review and report on firewall rule risks, unused rules, and access paths. 

  • Participate in firewall change request reviews via AlgoSec FireFlow and validate access requirements. 

  • Support compliance/audit-related data gathering and basic policy optimization activities. 

  • Assist with policy documentation, diagrams, and rule change validations. 

Cloud Security – Cloudflare (L2 level): 

  • Assist in managing Cloudflare WAF configurations, DDoS protection settings, and access policies. 

  • Monitor web traffic behavior and escalate anomalies to L3 teams. 

  • Implement or update basic DNS or firewall rules through the Cloudflare dashboard under supervision. 

  • Support operations teams in applying zero-trust network access policies. 

Zscaler ZIA/ZPA (L2 level): 

  • Monitor and support Zscaler ZIA and ZPA platforms for day-to-day incident resolution. 

  • Perform basic troubleshooting for user access issues, browser errors, and blocked traffic. 

  • Review logs for policy-related denials, tunnel health, or device misconfigurations. 

  • Assist in user provisioning, group assignments, and policy mapping in the Zscaler admin console. 

 

Operations: 

  • Support network security platforms in a 24x7 environment as part of the operations team. 

  • Work under L3/L4 engineers to implement change requests, investigate incidents, and maintain platform stability. 

  • Escalate complex issues while performing first-level analysis and documentation. 

  • Participate in firewall policy review cycles, change board meetings, and audit report generation. 

  • Ensure security controls and configurations meet defined SLA, compliance, and security standards. 

 

 

Desired qualifications 

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Security, Computer Science, or a related field. A Master’s degree in Cybersecurity or Business Management is preferred. 

  • Experience: 

  • 3–5 years of experience in network security or firewall administration. 

  • Familiarity with L3 routing, NAT, ACLs, DNS, DHCP, and TCP/IP basics. 

  • Hands-on with Palo Alto firewalls, including GUI/CLI configurations and policy review. 

  • Working knowledge of AlgoSec, Zscaler, and Cloudflare WAF/DNS/CDN. 

  • Ability to work with ticketing systems, incident management platforms, and basic scripting tools. 

  • Certifications:  

  • PCNSA (Palo Alto Certified Network Security Administrator) 

  • Zscaler Certified Administrator – ZIA/ZPA 

  • AlgoSec Associate or Equivalent Exposure 

  • Cloudflare Zero Trust or security training (bonus)

  • Base location: Bangalore/ Mumbai
