We are seeking an experienced AWS Cloud Architect for Migration to lead and drive the design, architecture, and implementation of cloud migration strategies for our organization. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of AWS cloud services, cloud migration methodologies, and hands-on experience with large-scale cloud adoption and migration projects.

As an AWS Cloud Architect for Migration, you will work closely with stakeholders to assess current on-premises infrastructure, define migration strategies, and design scalable, secure, and cost-efficient cloud environments on AWS. You will also lead the technical aspects of cloud migration, including re-architecting applications for the cloud, optimizing cloud infrastructure, and ensuring a smooth transition to AWS.

Key Responsibilities:

Cloud Migration Strategy & Planning:

Lead and design the end-to-end cloud migration strategy for transitioning applications, data, and infrastructure to AWS.

Conduct detailed assessments of existing on-premises systems, identifying key migration drivers, risks, and opportunities for optimization.

Collaborate with stakeholders to create roadmaps, timelines, and plans for cloud migration.

Evaluate, recommend, and implement tools and frameworks for cloud migration, such as AWS Migration Hub, AWS Server Migration Service, and Database Migration Service.

Architecture Design & Optimization:

Design scalable, resilient, and cost-effective cloud architectures on AWS that align with business requirements and industry best practices.

Ensure that cloud architectures are secure, compliant, and optimized for performance and cost-efficiency.

Re-architect legacy applications for the cloud, adopting cloud-native patterns (microservices, serverless, containers, etc.).

Provide architectural guidance for implementing high availability, disaster recovery, and disaster resilience in AWS environments.

Leadership in Cloud Migration Execution:

Lead cross-functional teams to execute cloud migration projects, ensuring successful, timely, and cost-effective migration to AWS.

Manage the technical implementation of cloud migration, including moving workloads, databases, and applications from on-premises or other clouds to AWS.

Collaborate with development, DevOps, and IT operations teams to ensure cloud architecture and migration plans are executed as designed.

Troubleshoot and resolve issues during the migration process, ensuring minimal disruptions to operations.

Automation & Infrastructure as Code:

Leverage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like AWS CloudFormation, Terraform, or AWS CDK to automate cloud infrastructure provisioning and management.

Develop automation scripts to streamline the migration process and reduce manual intervention.

Promote the use of DevOps best practices and CI/CD pipelines for cloud environments.

Cost Management & Optimization:

Design cost-effective cloud environments that optimize AWS resource usage and reduce overall cloud spend.

Implement cost control and optimization strategies using AWS tools like AWS Cost Explorer, Trusted Advisor, and AWS Compute Optimizer.

Help teams understand AWS billing and cost management best practices, including Reserved Instances, Spot Instances, and Auto Scaling.

Security & Compliance:

Ensure the migrated workloads comply with security best practices, including access management (IAM), encryption, and auditing.

Incorporate security controls and processes into cloud architecture to safeguard sensitive data and applications.

Stay updated on industry regulations and standards to ensure that AWS cloud environments adhere to relevant compliance requirements (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, SOC 2).

Stakeholder Engagement & Communication:

Communicate complex cloud architecture and migration concepts to non-technical stakeholders in clear, business-friendly terms.

Provide regular updates to leadership and other stakeholders on migration progress, challenges, and risk mitigation strategies.

Act as a trusted advisor to internal teams and business units, providing expert guidance on cloud adoption and transformation.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

Experience:

Proven experience in designing, architecting, and migrating workloads to AWS cloud (at least 10 years).

Experience in large-scale cloud migrations, including re-hosting, re-platforming, and re-architecting applications for the cloud.

Hands-on experience with AWS services such as EC2, S3, VPC, Lambda, RDS, Aurora, CloudFormation, CloudTrail, and IAM.

Familiarity with hybrid cloud environments and multi-cloud strategies.

Experience working with cloud migration tools, such as AWS Migration Hub, Server Migration Service (SMS), and Database Migration Service (DMS).

Technical Skills:

Strong knowledge of AWS cloud architecture best practices, including networking, security, scalability, and performance optimization.

Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using AWS CloudFormation, Terraform, or AWS CDK.

Experience in containerization technologies like Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS services such as ECS, EKS.

Knowledge of database migration and modernization strategies on AWS (e.g., RDS, DynamoDB, Aurora).

Familiarity with monitoring and cost management tools such as AWS CloudWatch, AWS Cost Explorer, and AWS Trusted Advisor.

Certifications:

AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional (preferred).

AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate or AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional.

Other relevant AWS certifications are a plus.

Soft Skills:

Strong leadership and project management skills with the ability to lead complex, cross-functional projects.

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, especially in the context of cloud migration challenges.

Ability to manage multiple tasks, priorities, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Skills:

Experience with serverless architecture and services like AWS Lambda, API Gateway, and DynamoDB.

Knowledge of DevOps and CI/CD practices and tools in a cloud environment.

Experience with cloud security frameworks and standards such as CIS AWS Foundations Benchmark and NIST.

Education:
