Your work profile

Seeking a Virtualization Engineer (1–5 years) to support, operate, and optimize our Software‑Defined Data Center (SDDC) platforms. You’ll work hands‑on with VMware vSphere/ESXi/vCenter, collaborate with storage (vSAN/SAN/NAS) and network (NSX‑T) teams, assist with backups/DR, and contribute to automation, monitoring, and compliance. Ideal for engineers growing into SDDC specialists.

Key Responsibilities

SDDC / Virtualization Operations

  • Provision and manage VMs on vSphere/ESXi/vCenter using templates, cloning, snapshots (best practices), and vMotion/Storage vMotion.
  • Perform routine host/cluster checks: HA/DRS health, datastore capacity, alarms, VMware Tools, and VM hardware compatibility.
  • Support lifecycle activities (patching, minor upgrades) under guidance; document changes and validate post‑change health.

Networking & Storage (Coordination)

  • Collaborate with network teams on NSX‑T basics (segments, groups, DFW rules) and with storage teams on vSAN/SAN/NAS mounts, datastore usage, and performance observations.
  • Troubleshoot common VM connectivity and disk performance issues with senior engineers.

Backup, Recovery & DR

  • Ensure VMs are protected by policies in Veeam/Commvault/Rubrik/Cohesity; validate job success and assist with restore tests.
  • Maintain/update DR runbooks; participate in DR drills as scheduled.

Monitoring, Documentation & ITIL

  • Monitor platform health via Aria Operations (vROps)/vCenter dashboards; respond to alerts and capacity thresholds.
  • Maintain SOPs, runbooks, CMDB entries, diagrams, and standard change templates.
  • Participate in Incident/Change/Problem processes and on‑call rotations (as needed).

Automation (Foundational)

  • Automate routine tasks with PowerCLI/PowerShell (inventory, reports, VM ops); contribute Ansible/Terraform modules under guidance.
  • Use Git for version control; follow code review and documentation standards.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Key skills required:

  • 1–5 years in virtualization or data center operations (enterprise environments preferred).
  • Exposure with VMware vSphere/ESXi/vCenter (VM lifecycle, templates, snapshots, vMotion, alarms).
  • Understanding of vSAN/SAN/NAS fundamentals (datastores, IOPS/latency basics, capacity hygiene).
  • Familiarity with NSX‑T concepts (segments, security groups/DFW) and physical network basics (VLANs, MTU, IP/DNS).
  • Exposure to backup tools (Veeam/Commvault/Rubrik/Cohesity) and restore workflows.
  • Good troubleshooting, documentation, and teamwork; exposure to ITIL (Incidents/Changes).
