Role Purpose
The Trade Capture and Pricing Operations Specialist is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timely processing of financial transactions. This role sits at the intersection of the Front Office and Back Office, focusing on the seamless capture of trades and the validation of pricing models to mitigate operational and market risk.
Key Responsibilities
1. Trade Capture & Validation
- Trade Entry: Perform timely and accurate capture of all trade activity (Equities, Fixed Income, Derivatives, FX, etc.) into the firm’s core booking systems.
- Verification: Reconcile trade details against term sheets, electronic execution platforms, and broker confirmations to ensure all parameters (notional, rate, maturity, counterparty) are correct.
- Exception Management: Identify, investigate, and resolve trade breaks, discrepancies, or failed bookings promptly.
- Lifecycle Management: Monitor trade lifecycle events, including corporate actions, adjustments, and settlements, ensuring they are reflected in the booking system.
2. Pricing & Valuation Operations
- Price Verification: Validate daily mark-to-market (MTM) valuations by comparing internal system prices against independent third-party data sources (e.g., Bloomberg, Reuters).
- Model Validation Support: Assist in monitoring the performance of pricing models and escalate any significant deviations or "outliers" to the Quantitative or Risk teams.
- Data Integrity: Ensure the accuracy of market data inputs (yield curves, volatility surfaces, interest rates) used in pricing engines.
- Valuation Reporting: Assist in the preparation of daily valuation reports for senior management and regulatory compliance.
3. Risk & Control
- Operational Risk: Implement and adhere to strict internal controls to prevent unauthorized trading or erroneous bookings.
- Audit & Compliance: Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and evidence of trade capture and pricing workflows.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to automate manual workflows (e.g., using VBA, Python, or SQL) to increase operational efficiency and reduce human error.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Education & Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Accounting, or a related quantitative field.
- Experience: 3 years of experience in Middle Office, Trade Support, or Investment Operations within a banking or asset management environment.
Technical Skills
- Systems: Proficiency in trading platforms (e.g., Bloomberg, Murex, Calypso) and core banking systems.
- Data Analysis: Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VBA, Pivot Tables, complex formulas).
- Programming (Preferred): Knowledge of Python, SQL, or VBA for automation and data manipulation is highly desirable.
- Financial Products: Deep understanding of financial instruments (Derivatives, Swaps, Bonds, etc.) and their pricing mechanics.
Soft Skills
