Consultant | Server Administration (Linux/Infrastructure)
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Server Administration professional with strong expertise in Windows and Linux systems, storage management, and ITIL processes. The role focuses on ensuring stable, secure, and efficient infrastructure operations, while also supporting incident management, system maintenance, and data migration activities in enterprise environments.
Key Responsibilities
Server Administration & Operations
- Manage and administer Windows, Linux-based servers (RHEL/CentOS/Unix) in production environments.
- Perform system installation, configuration, patching, and upgrades.
- Monitor system health, troubleshoot issues, and ensure high availability of services.
- Provide L2 support for incident resolution, problem management, and service requests.
Storage & Volume Management
- Manage disk partitioning, file systems, and logical volume configurations.
- Perform LVM (Logical Volume Manager) configuration, resizing, and maintenance.
- Handle mounting/unmounting of file systems and volumes across environments.
- Work with enterprise storage solutions and ensure proper utilization and allocation.
Data Migration & Backup
- Plan and execute data migration activities between servers or storage systems.
- Ensure data integrity, minimal downtime, and proper validation during migrations.
- Support backup and recovery operations as per organizational standards.
ITIL Process Compliance
- Work within ITIL frameworks including Incident, Problem, Change, and Request Management.
- Ensure proper documentation, ticket updates, and compliance with SLAs.
- Participate in change implementation and release management activities.
Security & System Maintenance
- Implement OS-level security practices including patching, hardening, and access control.
- Monitor vulnerabilities and apply necessary security updates.
- Maintain system logs and support auditing requirements.
Collaboration & Support
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (network, storage, application teams) for issue resolution.
- Provide technical guidance and support to junior team members.
- Ensure operational readiness and continuous improvement of infrastructure services.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience in Server Administration / Windows / Linux Infrastructure Support.
- (L2 Support Minimum)
- Strong expertise in Windows and Linux OS administration (RHEL preferred).
- Certifications such as RHCSA and/or RHCE (preferred/mandatory depending on role).
- Hands-on experience with LVM, file systems, and volume mounting.
- Experience in storage management and enterprise storage environments.
- Proven experience in data migration activities.
- Strong understanding of ITIL processes (Incident, Change, Problem Management).
- Experience working in an L2 support environment with SLA-driven operations.
Preferred Skills
- Exposure to automation tools (Ansible, Shell scripting).
- Familiarity with cloud or virtualized environments.
- Knowledge of backup tools and disaster recovery processes.
Soft Skills
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Good communication and stakeholder interaction abilities.
- Ability to work in rotational shifts/on-call support if required.
- Team-oriented mindset with mentoring capabilities.
