We are looking for a Linux Engineer with 1–5 years of hands‑on experience to support and operate Linux workloads in a Software‑Defined Data Center (SDDC). You’ll work on RHEL/CentOS/Ubuntu servers running on VMware vSphere, collaborate with storage/network/backup teams, and help drive patching, monitoring, automation, and incident resolution in a secure, enterprise environment.Windows Server Operations

Linux Platform Operations

  • Install, configure, and administer RHEL/CentOS/Oracle Linux/Ubuntu servers (users/groups, systemd services, package management yum/dnf/apt, filesystem tasks).
  • Perform patching, kernel/security updates, and basic OS hardening per standards (e.g., CIS guidelines).
  • Troubleshoot day‑to‑day issues: CPU/memory/disk usage, network connectivity, boot/service failures, and log analysis.
  • Manage basic LVM, filesystems (XFS/EXT4), fstab mounts, and NTP/time sync.

Identity, Security & Access

  • Integrate Linux hosts with AD/LDAP/SSSD, manage sudo policies, SSH keys, and certificate basics.
  • Support vulnerability remediation workflows and coordinate with security teams for scanning and compliance.

SDDC / Virtualization

  • Operate Linux VMs on VMware vSphere/ESXi/vCenter: VM provisioning from templates, snapshots (with best practices), vMotion, resource adjustments.
  • Coordinate with platform teams for vSAN/SAN/NAS storage, NSX‑T network segments/security groups, and change requests.
  • Contribute to capacity/performance checks (CPU, memory, IOPS/latency) and right‑sizing.

Backup & Recovery

  • Validate backups and perform restore tests for Linux servers using Veeam/Commvault/Rubrik/Cohesity (as applicable).
  • Maintain backup job hygiene (policies, schedules, retention) and document recovery steps.

Monitoring, Documentation & ITIL

  • Monitor system health with tools like vROps, Prometheus/node_exporter, Grafana, Nagios/Zabbix/SCOM, and respond to alerts.
  • Create/update SOPs, runbooks, KB articles, CMDB entries, and change records.
  • Participate in Incident/Change/Problem processes and on‑call rotation as needed.

Automation (Foundational)

  • Automate routine tasks with Bash and Ansible (playbooks, inventories); contribute to script repositories and follow version control (Git).
  • Assist senior engineers with repeatable builds and configuration baselines (golden images).
