Role Overview
The Proposal Author / Proposal Consultant will be responsible for developing, writing, and managing client-facing proposals, RFP/RFI responses, pitch decks, and pursuit collateral. The role demands strong business writing skills, stakeholder collaboration, an understanding of consulting/service offerings, and the ability to convert solutions into compelling value propositions. The consultant will work closely with sales, pre-sales, delivery teams, and leadership to craft high-impact proposals that improve win probability and strengthen client relationships.
Key Responsibilities
✦ Proposal Development & Ownership
- Lead end-to-end proposal creation — scoping, content drafting, formatting, and submission.
- Analyze RFP/RFI requirements, define response strategy, and ensure compliance with guidelines.
- Write clear, persuasive, and client-centric content including executive summaries, methodology sections, approach notes, and case examples.
- Tailor proposals based on client pain points, industry challenges, and solution fit.
✦ Collaboration & Stakeholder Coordination
- Collaborate with technical SMEs, delivery, operations, finance, and sales teams to gather inputs.
- Conduct solution interviews/workshops with domain experts to extract information and convert into written narratives.
- Maintain strong communication with pursuit teams to track progress and version control.
✦ Content & Knowledge Management
- Maintain proposal libraries, reusable content repositories, capability decks, templates, and win themes.
- Document case studies, value propositions, differentiators, methodologies, and service offerings for future reuse.
- Ensure proposals follow branding, visual standardization, and quality guidelines.
✦ Review & Quality Enhancement
- Review technical content for readability, structure, grammar, tone, and alignment with client ask.
- Conduct red-team/white-team reviews and implement feedback before final submission.
- Monitor proposal success metrics and derive improvement opportunities.
Required Skills & Experience
- 2–8+ years of experience in proposal writing, bid management, presales, or business content creation.
- Exceptional English writing, storytelling, and message structuring ability.
- Prior experience in consulting/technology outsourcing/professional services preferred.
- Ability to simplify complex technical concepts into business-friendly language.
- Proficiency in MS PowerPoint, Word, Excel; familiarity with proposal automation tools is a plus.
- Strong project coordination, multitasking, deadline and expectation management skills.
