Your work profile

The consultant will establish and operate a Procurement CoE-led capability for managing critical material and supplier data, coordinating procurement escalations, and proactively identifying supply concerns across business units (BUs). The role will support the collection, validation, consolidation, and governance of key planning data, such as lead times, minimum order quantities, transit times, capacity, inventory parameters, and other MRP prerequisites, while coordinating resolution of data gaps with suppliers and internal stakeholders. The consultant will act as the central coordination point for material shortages, capacity constraints, delivery delays, quality issues, and commercial or contractual concerns, working with Planners, Buyers, SRMs, QA, R&D, Stores, Finance, BU Leads, and suppliers to establish ownership, drive actions, and ensure timely closure. The role will leverage ERP systems, centralized repositories, MIS, analytics, dashboards, and workflow automation to strengthen data governance, highlight recurring bottlenecks, identify potential value-recovery and cost-avoidance opportunities, and enable proactive, data-driven interventions.

Key responsibilities for the Consultant will include:

1. Material Planning Master Data Management

•           Coordinate the mapping, collection, validation, and maintenance of material planning data, including lead times, MOQ, transit times, planning parameters, and other MRP inputs.

•           Maintain a centralized repository and track data availability, completeness, and support periodic data cleansing and standardization to improve planning accuracy and material supply visibility.

•           Support Planning teams & SRMs in obtaining supplier dependent data and facilitate validation.

•           Track recurring data-quality gaps and report master data completeness, aging, and improvement progress through defined MIS.

2. Issue Management

  • Serve as the Procurement CoE focal point for material supply issues, operational escalations, and cross-functional resolution
  • Monitor material shortages, delivery delays, quality holds, specification concerns, supplier constraints, and other material availability risks
  • Assess and prioritize issues based on production, financial, quality, and business continuity impact
  • Maintain end-to-end visibility of issue status, ownership, agreed actions, dependencies, resolution timelines, and escalation requirements

3. Cross-functional Coordination & Resolution

  • Coordinate with Planners, Buyers, SRMs, QA, R&D, Stores, BU Leads, suppliers, and other stakeholders to drive timely issue resolution
  • Establish clear ownership, priorities, action plans, and closure timelines for identified material supply issues
  • Facilitate structured issue-resolution discussions and root-cause analysis for recurring or high-impact supply constraints

4. Recovery & Escalation Management

  • Support recovery planning through delivery expediting, supplier recovery actions, allocation management, alternate sourcing, and material substitution in coordination with accountable stakeholders
  • Escalate unresolved or high-impact constraints to appropriate procurement and business leadership forums with clear recommendations and decision requirements
  • Follow up with action owners to ensure timely implementation of agreed recovery measures and sustainable closure

5. Value Opportunity Identification & Tracking

·      Identify potential value-recovery and cost-avoidance opportunities through material planning data reviews, supplier interactions, issue resolution, and commercial or contractual observations.

·      Highlight opportunities related to PO pricing compliance, Incoterms, lead times, minimum order quantities, currency-rate adjustments, amortized pricing, and supply-disruption avoidance.

·      Coordinate with Buyers, SRMs, Planning, Finance, Legal, and other accountable stakeholders to validate identified opportunities and establish ownership for further action.

·      Maintain visibility of identified opportunities, indicative value, ownership, actions, and status through defined trackers and reporting mechanisms.

·      Track progress and report the measurable value enabled by CoE interventions

6. Governance, Reporting & Stakeholder Communication

  • Establish and maintain standard governance processes, issue trackers, dashboards, review routines, and reporting mechanisms for material supply management
  • Conduct regular material-risk and issue-resolution reviews with relevant stakeholders
  • Develop and maintain MIS and periodic leadership reporting to provide visibility into recurring material supply bottlenecks, issue aging, business impact, resolution performance, and the measurable value enabled by CoE interventions, including disruptions avoided, recovery accelerated, cycle-time improvements, and systemic issues resolved.
  • Maintain accurate and auditable documentation of key issues, decisions, actions, and closure evidence

Key Objectives

  • Establish a centralized and standardized material supply issue-management framework across BUs
  • Improve visibility and control over material shortages, supplier constraints, delivery delays, quality holds, and related operational risks
  • Enable timely cross-functional coordination, decision-making, and escalation for critical supply issues
  • Reduce material-related production disruptions through proactive risk identification and structured recovery planning
  • Strengthen accountability through clear issue ownership, action tracking, escalation, and closure governance
  • Identify recurring failure themes and drive sustainable corrective and preventive actions
  • Enable leadership with reliable dashboards, risk insights, and decision support

What does success look like?

  • Material supply risks and operational issues are identified and communicated at an early stage
  • Critical issues have clearly defined owners, actions, priorities, dependencies, and resolution timelines
  • Material shortages and supply-related business disruptions are reduced

  • Stakeholders receive timely, accurate, and actionable updates on material supply risks
  • Escalations are supported by clear business-impact assessments, recovery options, and decision requirements
