Consultant – SAP Advanced Planning Solutions (APS)

Job Summary

We are looking for an SAP Advanced Planning Solutions (APS) Consultant to support SAP supply chain planning implementation and transformation engagements across SAP Integrated Business Planning (IBP), SAP S/4HANA Production Planning & Detailed Scheduling (PP/DS), and Advanced Available-to-Promise (aATP).

The candidate should have hands-on experience in at least one APS solution area, a good understanding of relevant supply chain processes, and the ability to perform configuration, testing, documentation and issue analysis under the guidance of senior project team members.

Key Responsibilities

Functional Delivery

  • Support project activities across requirements, design, configuration, testing, deployment and hypercare.
  • Participate in business requirement and solution design workshops.
  • Understand documented business requirements and translate them into configuration and functional requirements.
  • Perform system configuration for assigned functional areas.
  • Prepare and maintain configuration documents, functional specifications, test scripts, process documents and other project deliverables.
  • Execute unit testing, functional testing and integration testing.
  • Support business users during User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
  • Analyze defects and functional issues and coordinate with relevant teams for resolution.
  • Support cutover, deployment, data validation and post-go-live activities.

  • Possess a good understanding of supply chain concepts relevant to the candidate's primary SAP skill, including:

  • Detailed Scheduling
  • Inventory Planning
  • Distribution Planning
  • Order Confirmation and Fulfillment
  • Understand the relationship between planning processes, master data, transactional data and planning results.

Data & Integration

  • Understand relevant master data and transactional data requirements.
  • Support data validation and reconciliation activities.
  • Support integration testing between the candidate's primary solution and SAP S/4HANA/ECC and other applications.
  • Assist in analyzing functional and integration errors with guidance from senior team members.

Client & Project Responsibilities

  • Participate in client workshops, solution walkthroughs and testing sessions.
  • Work closely with business users to understand issues and document requirements.
  • Complete assigned project deliverables within agreed timelines and quality standards.
  • Proactively communicate issues, dependencies and risks to Senior Consultants and Managers.
  • Collaborate with functional, technical, integration and data teams.
  • Prepare clear and structured project documentation.
  • Develop capability through continuous learning and participation in internal knowledge-sharing activities.

Practice Contribution

  • Support development of reusable configurations, test scripts, process documentation and demonstration scenarios.
  • Assist senior team members with proposals, demonstrations, RFP responses and proof-of-concept activities.
  • Build knowledge of new SAP Advanced Planning capabilities.
  • Develop awareness of SAP Business AI/Joule, analytics, automation and AI/ML applications in supply chain planning.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 3–5 years of relevant SAP and/or supply chain experience.
  • Hands-on experience in at least one of SAP IBP, SAP S/4HANA PP/DS or SAP S/4HANA aATP.
  • Good understanding of relevant supply chain planning concepts and processes.
  • Hands-on configuration exposure in the candidate's primary SAP solution.
  • Experience in requirements analysis, configuration, testing and documentation.
  • Exposure to at least one SAP implementation, rollout or support engagement.
  • Understanding of SAP master data and transactional data relevant to the candidate's primary skill.
  • Basic understanding of integration with SAP S/4HANA/ECC.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within cross-functional project teams.

Preferred Skills

  • SAP certification in IBP, PP/DS, aATP or related SAP Supply Chain solutions.
  • End-to-end implementation exposure.
  • Experience with SAP APO.
  • Exposure to more than one SAP Advanced Planning solution.
  • Exposure to SAP Analytics Cloud or other analytics technologies.
  • Prior consulting/client-facing experience.
  • Exposure to Agile or SAP Activate implementation methodologies.

What We Are Looking For

The Consultant should be a hands-on functional team member capable of independently executing assigned configuration, testing, analysis and documentation activities while progressively developing solution design and client-facing capabilities.

Candidates are not expected to know all APS technologies. Hands-on capability in at least one of SAP IBP, PP/DS or aATP and strong fundamentals in the corresponding supply chain processes are the primary requirements.
