Role Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled n8n Application Engineer to support development and accelerate adoption of the n8n automation platform.

This role combines hands-on workflow design, integration expertise and technical enablement support to drive automation innovations across business units.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for building, testing, and iterating projects using n8n workflows, demonstrating automation value and enabling cross-functional adoption of n8n capabilities.

Project Delivery

• Work with business stakeholders to translate requirements into Projects that demonstrate automation value and feasibility.
• Rapidly design, develop, and iterate on n8n workflows, nodes, and integrations.
• Build automation pipelines that connect systems via REST APIs, webhooks, and scheduled triggers.
• Integrate n8n with internal tools, SaaS platforms, and data sources as part of PoC value delivery.

Technical Development

• Create and configure workflow components such as:
• Triggers (webhook, schedule)
• HTTP request nodes
• Conditional logic
• Data transformations
• Error handling and retries
• Develop custom logic using JavaScript code nodes where required.

Integration & API Expertise

• Design API-based integrations where n8n does not have native nodes by using HTTP Request nodes and credential setups.
• Handle authentication mechanisms such as OAuth2, API keys, and secrets.
• Manage API pagination, rate limits, and data transformations.

AI Workflows & Advanced Use Cases

• Support PoCs involving AI-enabled automations leveraging native AI nodes or connections to LLMs (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.).
• Create workflow patterns for AI agents, summarizations, decision logic and human-in-the-loop tasks as required.

Testing, Documentation & Enablement

• Validate PoCs under realistic conditions, ensure reliability, and document results.
• Produce clear knowledge artifacts: workflow diagrams, runbooks, and best-practice guides.
• Train business technologists and citizen developers in building and maintaining n8n automations.

Support & Troubleshooting

• Provide technical support for early production workflows arising from PoC transitions.
• Troubleshoot failed workflow executions and complex logic paths.

Key Skills & Competencies

Technical Skills

• Strong hands-on experience with n8n workflow automation, including nodes, integrations, and advanced features.
• Deep understanding of API interactions (REST, webhook triggers, POST/GET requests).
• Ability to write and debug JavaScript within workflow code nodes for custom logic.
• Experience with HTTP authentication and credential management.
• Ability to efficiently handle data transformation and merging in workflows.
• Familiarity with error handling, retries, and production-grade flow design.

PoC & Delivery Skills

• Experience building technical PoCs and delivering demonstrable value quickly.
• Capability to partner with business stakeholders to define requirements and success criteria.
• Strong problem-solving and logical workflow synthesis skills.

Integration & Systems Skills

• Ability to work with diverse systems — internal apps, CRM/ERP, databases, cloud services.
• Understand how to structure API calls and orchestrate multi-system workflows.

B.E/B.Tech

Preferred (Nice-to-Have)

• Past experience building custom n8n nodes or extending the platform.
• Exposure to AI models and generative workflows, including prompt engineering.
• Familiarity with workflow orchestration best practices and governance standards.
• Experience in automating business processes end-to-end in enterprise environments.
