Your work profile 

 

As Deputy Manager in our Cyber Team you’ll build and nurture positive working relationships with teams and clients with the intention to exceed client expectations: - 

 

 

The Deputy Manager – Network Security for an MSSP (Managed Security Service Provider) is responsible for supporting the operational leadership and delivery of network security services across multiple client environments. This role involves hands-on technical oversight and coordination of L2/L3 analysts and engineers to ensure the effective implementation, monitoring, and management of solutions such as AlgoSec, Cloudflare, Palo Alto firewalls, and Zscaler ZIA/ZPA. 

 

The Deputy Manager plays a critical role in handling escalated incidents, performing advanced troubleshooting, enforcing security policies, and supporting client change management activities. Working closely with the Network Security Manager, the Deputy Manager helps maintain service excellence, ensures SLA compliance, and contributes to continuous improvement initiatives—including process optimization, documentation, and technical mentorship. 

 

This role bridges operations and engineering, ensuring secure and compliant network configurations, while supporting seamless communication with clients and internal teams. 

 

Firewall Security Engineering – Palo Alto (L3 level): 

  • Design, implement, and maintain Palo Alto Networks Next-Gen Firewalls (PA-VM & PA-Series) across data centers and cloud environments. 

  • Manage Panorama for centralized policy management and device health monitoring. 

  • Perform complex security policy configurations, NAT, SSL decryption, App-ID, and User-ID implementations. 

  • Troubleshoot advanced issues involving VPNs (IPSec/SSL), routing (BGP/OSPF), and high availability (HA) setups. 

  • Conduct firewall upgrades, hotfix patching, and migration planning without business impact. 

Network Security Policy Management – AlgoSec (L3 level): 

  • Utilize AlgoSec Firewall Analyzer to assess security policy risks, identify overly permissive rules, and validate compliance requirements. 

  • Use AlgoSec FireFlow to automate change requests and validate path connectivity. 

  • Perform regular rule cleanup, impact analysis, and prepare reports for audit and governance teams. 

  • Collaborate with application owners and change managers to implement rule changes safely and efficiently. 

Cloud Security – Cloudflare (L3 level): 

  • Configure and manage Cloudflare WAF policies, CDN optimization rules, and Rate Limiting policies. 

  • Implement and tune Bot Mitigation, Page Shield, Access Policies, and Load Balancing. 

  • Set up Cloudflare Zero Trust rules for secure remote access and enforce device posture checks. 

  • Integrate Cloudflare with identity providers (IdP) and SIEM tools for enhanced visibility. 

Secure Internet & Remote Access – Zscaler ZIA/ZPA (L2 level) 

  • Operate and maintain Zscaler Internet Access (ZIA) and Zscaler Private Access (ZPA) in day-to-day support scenarios. 

  • Perform policy tuning, URL filtering, user troubleshooting, and Z-Tunnel diagnostics. 

  • Analyze Zscaler logs, validate access paths, troubleshoot blocked requests, and resolve policy-related issues. 

  • Escalate advanced configuration issues to L3 engineering teams or Zscaler TAC where needed. 

Operational Responsibilities: 

  • Monitor and respond to incidents from firewall, Zscaler, and Cloudflare environments using ticketing systems and SIEM integrations. 

  • Participate in change management, impact analysis, and production deployments. 

  • Maintain accurate documentation – including firewall diagrams, ACL inventories, and policy matrices. 

  • Proactively perform platform health checks, license usage reviews, and configuration backups. 

  • Work closely with SOC, compliance, and architecture teams for coordinated incident response and RCA. 

  • Support automation projects using Python, Ansible, or REST APIs for recurring network tasks (optional, but valued). 

  • You will serve as a Network Security SME for firewall and cloud security controls. 

  • Operate at a senior technical level (L3/L4) for firewall and policy-based engineering. 

  • Handle incident and change tickets end-to-end, supporting internal and client environments. 

  • Maintain high service quality and ensure all controls are operating as per defined SLA and compliance guidelines. 

  • Proactively recommend enhancements in design, logging, monitoring, or access segmentation. 

 

 

 

Desired qualifications 

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Security, Computer Science, or a related field. A Master’s degree in Cybersecurity or Business Management is preferred. 

  • Experience: 

  • 5–8 years of network security engineering and operations experience. 

  • Strong command over network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, BGP, OSPF) and L2/L3 troubleshooting. 

  • In-depth experience with Palo Alto firewalls, including rule design and troubleshooting. 

  • Expert in using AlgoSec for security policy risk analysis and change management. 

  • Working-level knowledge of Cloudflare Zero Trust, WAF, and CDN configurations. 

  • Intermediate skills in managing Zscaler ZIA/ZPA environments (user access, policy enforcement). 

  • Familiarity with ITSM tools (e.g., ServiceNow, Remedy) and SIEM platforms (e.g., Splunk, QRadar, etc.). 

  • Certifications:  

  • PCNSE / PCNSA – Palo Alto Networks 

  • ZIA/ZPA Administrator (Zscaler) 

  • AlgoSec Certified Professional 

  • Cloudflare Fundamentals / Zero Trust Specialist 

  • Network+ / Security+ / CCNA Security / CCNP Security (advantageous)

  • Base location: Bangalore/ Mumbai
