Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Lead Data QA to drive data quality assurance for AWS‑based Data Lakehouse platforms. This role plays a critical part in ensuring data accuracy, completeness, reliability, and trust across enterprise data pipelines built on AWS services such as Redshift and integrated ETL workflows.
You will work closely with business stakeholders, data engineers, and analytics teams to define and execute data testing strategies, while also leading QA processes, mentoring team members, and ensuring adherence to quality standards across the data lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Data Quality & Testing Leadership
- Lead data quality assurance efforts for AWS‑centric Data Lakehouse solutions
- Define and drive Data QA strategy, covering ETL testing, validation rules, regression cycles, and release sign‑off
- Ensure end‑to‑end data validation from source systems through transformations to target layers
- Establish and enforce QA governance, standards, and best practices for data testing
Hands‑On Data Testing
- Execute ETL Testing, data reconciliation, and data integrity checks
- Perform advanced SQL‑based validation using AWS Redshift, and relational databases
- Validate business rules, transformations, and aggregations across pipelines
- Execute Functional, Regression, and Sanity Testing for data releases
Tools, Defects & Reporting
- Create and maintain test plans, test cases, and test scenarios aligned to business requirements
- Manage defect lifecycle including logging, triage, prioritization, and closure
- Use Azure DevOps for test management and defect tracking
- Prepare and present test execution summaries, defect metrics, and quality dashboards
- Ensure timely test completion, sign‑off, and documentation
Collaboration & Team Leadership
- Work closely with Data Engineering, Architecture, Business, and Analytics teams
- Participate actively in Agile ceremonies and continuous quality improvement initiatives
- Mentor and guide QA team members, promoting strong testing discipline and ownership
- Proactively identify quality risks and recommend mitigation strategies
Required Skills & Experience
- 5–8 years of experience in Data Quality Assurance / Data Testing
- Strong hands‑on experience with:
- ETL Testing
- Advanced SQL
- Test Case Writing, Test Planning & Execution
- Strong experience testing AWS‑based data platforms, especially:
- AWS Redshift
- Hands‑on working knowledge of:
- postgreSQL
- Experience validating enterprise data warehouses and lakehouse environments
- Proven experience with QA tools:
- Azure DevOps
- Strong understanding of STLC, SDLC, and Agile methodologies
Cloud & Data Platform Exposure
- Experience working on cloud‑based data platforms, with strong preference for AWS
- Understanding of:
- Data ingestion, transformation, and consumption layers
- Data reconciliation across multiple systems
- Awareness of data security, access controls, and compliance requirements in cloud environments
Soft Skills & Leadership Expectations
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
- Ability to lead QA initiatives while remaining hands‑on
- High attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy and quality
- Comfortable working with cross‑functional and distributed teams
Nice to Have
- Experience validating high‑volume / large‑scale datasets
- Exposure to CI/CD testing concepts for data pipelines
- ISTQB or other QA certifications
- Prior experience in regulated or compliance‑driven data environments
