Job Title: Lead Associate | Frontend React Developer | Bengaluru | Engineering as a Service/ Operate
Job Summary:
As Product Software Engineer II, Observability & Platform, you will build features for the observability and self-service platforms used across Entertainment & ESPN engineering, developing production skills in Python, AWS, and modern observability practice alongside senior engineers.
You will be part of an organization made up of three complementary teams.
-Technical Operations is responsible for production readiness and service onboarding, alert response and first-line eyes-on-glass monitoring, defining alerts and thresholds, escalation management, backend capacity management and load testing, and third-layer support for technically complex customer issues.
-Reliability Platforms is responsible for the traffic, compute, and streaming platform layers, and for the reliability tooling that engineers reliability, resiliency, and self-healing into our production services and automates operational processes.
-Observability & Platform is responsible for telemetry, instrumentation, and alerting standards, for the internal self-service tooling and automation platforms that enable teams across the organization to deploy, detect, alert, and mitigate in our AWS environments with reliability and velocity, and for the operational data, reliability reporting, and anomaly detection that make those platforms smarter over time.
You must understand the demands of managing 24x7 applications at a large scale with well-defined operational objectives. You bring solid Python fundamentals and foundational experience across AWS, systems programming, the software development lifecycle, incident response and management, and observability tooling such as Datadog, CloudWatch, and Grafana. Within Observability & Platform you will take technical direction from the Lead and Sr Product Software Engineers, growing your expertise in observability, platform engineering, and cloud security through pairing, code review, and mentorship. You will report to the Director, Product Software Engineering.
Responsibilities and Duties of the Role:
•Develop features for telemetry pipelines, dashboards, and self-service tooling under the guidance of senior engineers, writing production-quality code with strong test coverage
•Build and maintain backend APIs and integrations in Python that support platform services
•Contribute to IAM permission workflows and cloud automation with attention to security best practices
•Help maintain operational data pipelines and reliability reporting
•Instrument services and help tune alerts and dashboards
•Participate in the on-call rotation for platform services with support from senior engineers, and grow expertise through pairing and code review
Required Education, Experience/Skills/Training:
•3+ years of professional software engineering experience
•Python development skills with a focus on writing maintainable, tested code
•Foundational experience with AWS and with Unix/Linux environments
•Exposure to monitoring and observability tools such as Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, or CloudWatch
•Exposure to CI/CD pipelines, Docker, and containerization concepts
•Clear written and verbal communication and an eagerness to learn platform engineering practicesPreferred Qualifications
•Frontend exposure with React or TypeScript
•Exposure to data pipelines such as Spark or Airflow, or to machine learning concepts
•Exposure to AWS IAM policies and cloud security concepts
•Experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools as a productivity multiplier
•Interest in observability and developer experience as a specialtyRequired Education
