Your work profile

The Multi-Cloud FinOps Specialist is responsible for driving financial accountability, cost transparency, and cloud spend optimization across AWS, Azure, OCI, GCP environments. The role requires deep understanding of cloud cost models, consumption patterns, pricing constructs, and hands-on experience with both native cloud cost-management services and third-party FinOps platforms. The specialist will partner across engineering, finance, architecture, procurement, and leadership to mature enterprise-wide FinOps practices.

Key Responsibilities

Cloud Financial Management & Optimization

  • Analyze multi-cloud consumption trends (AWS, Azure, OCI, GCP) and identify optimization opportunities.
  • Conduct baseline vs. actual spend comparisons at application, business unit, environment, and cloud-provider levels to track variances and recommend corrective actions.
  • Recommend and implement optimization levers including RI/Savings Plans, Reserved Capacity, rightsizing, storage tiering, workload scheduling, and architectural optimizations.
  • Monitors spend anomalies, investigate spikes, and track variance against forecasts.
  • Deliver actionable insights through dashboards, reports, and optimization playbooks.

FinOps Tools & Platforms

  • Utilize native cloud cost-management services such as:
  • AWS: Cost Explorer, CUR, Budgets, Trusted Advisor
  • Azure: Cost Management + Billing, Advisor
  • GCP: Billing Export, Cost Recommender
  • OCI: Cost Analysis, Usage Reports, Budgets, Advisor
  • Use third-party tools (CloudHealth, Cloudability, Flexera, Harness, Spot.io, Anodot, ProsperOps, etc.) for consolidated reporting, trend analysis, and automation.
  • Integrate data sources into enterprise dashboards (PowerBI, Tableau, Looker) including baseline vs. actual trend views.

Governance, Reporting & Forecasting

  • Establish and govern tagging, cost allocation, chargeback, and showback frameworks.
  • Build recurring monthly/quarterly cloud cost reports with baseline vs actual comparisons, variance commentary, and corrective recommendations.
  • Partner with business leaders and engineering teams to track budget adherence and drive financial accountability.
  • Support forecasting, budgeting cycles, and unit economics programs.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate with engineering teams to embed optimization best practices throughout design, build, and operations.
  • Advise architecture teams on cost-efficient solution design.
  • Support procurement with committed-use evaluations, contract negotiations, and enterprise agreement renewals.

Automation & Continuous Improvement

  • Automate reporting pipelines, anomaly alerts, and optimization workflows using scripting (Python, PowerShell) and APIs.
  • Build automated baseline vs. actual consumption monitoring alerts and dashboards.
  • Develop an enterprise FinOps improvement roadmap and contribute to maturity-model progress

Key skills required:

  • Strong understanding of AWS, Azure, OCI, and GCP services and pricing constructs.
  • Experience with multi-cloud spend analytics, baseline creation, and variance analysis.
  • Proficiency with native cloud tools and third-party FinOps platforms.
  • Strong scripting and automation skills (Python, PowerShell, SQL).
  • Strong understanding of the FinOps Framework and cost-governance principles.
  • Experience performing baseline vs. actual analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and unit economics.
  • FinOps Certified Practitioner or Professional preferred.
