Direct Tax Associate

Role Summary

The role will involve working closely with regional tax teams, finance teams, external advisors, and business stakeholders across multiple jurisdictions. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge and experience in corporate tax compliance, tax reporting, withholding tax, tax accounting support, and process controls. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, stakeholder management capability, and the ability to work in a global, deadline-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support preparation, review, and filing of corporate income tax returns across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Assist in gathering, validating, and analyzing financial data required for tax computations and filings.
  • Prepare tax schedules, workpapers, reconciliations, and supporting documentation for tax returns.
  • Track tax compliance calendars and ensure timely completion of assigned deliverables.
  • Coordinate with local country tax teams and external consultants for return preparation and review.
  • Support withholding tax compliance, including documentation, reconciliations, certificates, and filings.
  • Assist in responding to tax notices, assessments, audits, and information requests from tax authorities.
  • Centrally track advance tax payments, assist in forecast of annual cash tax outflow.
  • Track Effective Tax Rate across countries. Prepare and present tax adjustments and its effect on effective tax rates.
  • Support quarterly and annual tax provision processes as per applicable accounting standards.
  • Prepare tax provision schedules, deferred tax workings, effective tax rate analysis, and related reconciliations.
  • Assist in reviewing tax balances in the general ledger and resolving tax accounting differences.
  • Support preparation of tax disclosures and reporting packs for regional and global tax teams.
  • Ensure accurate documentation and audit trails for all tax reporting activities.
  • Coordinate with finance and controllership teams to validate tax-sensitive transactions.
  • Support implementation of global tax initiative in areas of tax policies, processes, and governance requirements.
  • Maintain standard operating procedures, process documentation, checklists, and compliance trackers.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and standardization.
  • Partner with global, regional, and local tax teams to ensure smooth delivery of compliance activities.

Required Qualifications

  • Chartered Accountant, CPA, ACCA, MBA Finance, or equivalent professional qualification preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Taxation, or related field.
  • 3 to 6 years of experience in international tax compliance, corporate tax, tax reporting, or global tax operations from Big 4 or a Foreign headquartered
  • Experience in internal tax compliance from Big 4 firm, multinational company, shared services center, or global capability center preferred.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Strong understanding of corporate income tax compliance and tax accounting concepts.
  • Good understanding of withholding tax, transfer pricing support, tax audits, and tax reconciliations.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills; exposure to Power BI, Oracle, Tableau, and AI tools.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
