Your work profile

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mainframe Developer / Technical Architect with 6-8 years of experience in delivering, modernizing, and supporting mission-critical applications within the banking, insurance, or other regulated industries. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in IBM Mainframe technologies and legacy data platforms, with a proven track record in application analysis, migration initiatives, production support, and legacy modernization programs.

This role requires a strong blend of technical expertise, analytical skills, and stakeholder collaboration to support complex transformation and modernization initiatives while ensuring business continuity and operational stability.

Key Responsibilities

Mainframe Application Development & Support

• Design, develop, maintain, and support enterprise-grade mainframe applications.
• Develop and enhance applications using PL/I, COBOL, JCL, CICS, and IBM z/OS environments.
• Support both online and batch processing systems in high-volume production environments.
• Perform code analysis, debugging, performance tuning, and optimization.

Legacy Modernization & Migration

• Analyze legacy applications and data architectures to support modernization and migration initiatives.
• Conduct reverse engineering of existing systems and identify application dependencies.
• Support Datacom-to-VSAM or similar legacy database migration programs.
• Participate in application and data transformation activities while ensuring data integrity and business continuity.

Architecture & Design

• Produce low-level technical designs and solution documentation.
• Create module dependency maps, interface specifications, and data-flow analysis artifacts.
• Collaborate with enterprise architects to define modernization approaches and migration strategies.
• Recommend performance, scalability, and maintainability improvements.

Data Analysis & Management

• Work extensively with VSAM datasets (KSDS, ESDS, RRDS) and relational/non-relational databases including Datacom/Broadcom Datacom and DB2.
• Analyze and optimize data access patterns.
• Support data reconciliation and validation activities during migration and release cycles.

Testing & Release Management

• Perform unit testing and support System Integration Testing (SIT) and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
• Troubleshoot defects and provide root-cause analysis.
• Support release deployments, controlled production cutovers, and post-implementation monitoring.
• Ensure compliance with change management and release governance processes.

Stakeholder Collaboration

• Work closely with business analysts, architects, QA teams, production support teams, and onsite stakeholders.
• Participate in requirements gathering, technical assessments, and solution reviews.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior team members.
