We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) with strong experience in AWS migration to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in managing, maintaining, and optimizing Oracle databases, as well as a proven track record of migrating Oracle database environments to AWS cloud platforms.


As a Senior Oracle DBA, you will play a critical role in supporting our Oracle database systems, ensuring high performance, availability, and security. In addition, you will lead and contribute to the migration of Oracle databases to AWS, leveraging cloud technologies and best practices for a seamless transition and ongoing cloud optimization.


Key Responsibilities:

Oracle Database Administration:

Manage, monitor, and administer Oracle databases across production, development, and test environments.

Perform database installations, upgrades, patch management, and configuration for Oracle databases.

Perform database performance tuning, including query optimization, resource management, and indexing to ensure high availability and optimal performance.

Implement, monitor, and manage backup and recovery strategies, including using Oracle RMAN and other backup solutions.

Implement and maintain Oracle Data Guard, Oracle RAC (Real Application Clusters), and other high availability solutions.

Manage database security, including role-based access control (RBAC), encryption, and user management.

Troubleshoot and resolve database issues, providing root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.

AWS Cloud & Migration Expertise:

Lead the migration of Oracle databases to AWS Cloud, leveraging AWS services such as RDS (Relational Database Service), EC2, S3, Lambda, and AWS Database Migration Service (DMS).

Design and implement Oracle database solutions in AWS, ensuring scalability, availability, and cost-effectiveness.

Work closely with cross-functional teams (infrastructure, network, security, and development teams) to plan and execute cloud migration strategies for Oracle databases.

Perform assessments of on-premise Oracle databases for migration to AWS, including performance and resource utilization analysis.

Use AWS migration tools (e.g., AWS DMS, AWS SCT) to perform database migrations and ensure smooth transitions with minimal downtime.

Provide expertise in cloud security practices for Oracle databases, ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices.

Cloud Optimization & Performance Tuning:

Continuously monitor and optimize Oracle databases in the AWS cloud environment, ensuring they are cost-efficient, highly available, and perform optimally.

Implement cloud-native features like Amazon RDS, Amazon Aurora, and Amazon Redshift where applicable, to improve performance and scalability.

Leverage cloud monitoring and logging tools (AWS CloudWatch, CloudTrail) to track database performance and troubleshoot issues in real-time.

Collaboration & Support:

Work closely with cloud architects, DevOps, and infrastructure teams to design cloud-native solutions and hybrid cloud environments.

Provide guidance and mentoring to junior DBAs and team members, especially in AWS cloud-related initiatives.

Work with business stakeholders and leadership to understand database requirements and ensure that database solutions align with business goals and cloud strategy.

Coordinate with development teams to implement best practices for cloud-based Oracle database deployments.

Disaster Recovery & Backup:

Design, implement, and test disaster recovery strategies for Oracle databases both on-premise and in AWS.

Ensure consistent backup and recovery procedures for Oracle databases, meeting organizational and regulatory requirements.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

Experience:

At least 8 years of experience as an Oracle DBA, with a focus on Oracle database administration, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.

Experience leading or participating in the migration of Oracle databases to AWS, including using AWS Database Migration Service (DMS) and Oracle RDS.

Experience working with Oracle RAC, Data Guard, and ASM (Automatic Storage Management).

Strong experience with Oracle backup and recovery strategies using RMAN and third-party backup tools.

Hands-on experience with AWS services such as RDS, EC2, S3, Lambda, IAM, CloudWatch, and CloudFormation.

Familiarity with AWS Well-Architected Framework for database architectures and security best practices.

Technical Skills:

Strong SQL and PL/SQL skills, including query tuning and performance analysis.

Hands-on experience with cloud database solutions such as Amazon RDS, Oracle Database on EC2, Amazon Aurora, and Amazon Redshift.

Familiarity with AWS CloudFormation, Terraform, or similar infrastructure-as-code tools for cloud resource management.

Experience with automation and orchestration tools like Ansible or Chef for database management.

Familiarity with monitoring tools such as AWS CloudWatch, Oracle Enterprise Manager, or Dynatrace.

Certifications:

Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) or equivalent Oracle certification.

AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate or Professional.

AWS Certified Database – Specialty (preferred).

Other relevant certifications in Oracle, AWS, or cloud technologies are a plus.

Soft Skills:

Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities, especially in cloud environments.

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with the ability to manage and guide a team.

Ability to work in a collaborative, fast-paced, and dynamic environment.

Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.

Preferred Skills:

Experience with multi-cloud environments (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).

Understanding of hybrid cloud strategies and cloud-to-cloud migration.

Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes for Oracle database management.

Knowledge of DevOps practices and familiarity with continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

  • Managing, monitoring and maintaining company databases.
  • Making requested changes, updates and modifications to database structure and data.
  • Ensuring database security, integrity, stability and system availability.
  • Maintaining database backup and recovery infrastructure.
  • Build database systems of high availability and quality depending on each end user’s specialised role
  • Design and implement database in accordance to end users information needs and views
  • Define users and enable data distribution to the right user, in appropriate format and in a timely manner
  • Use high-speed transaction recovery techniques and backup data
  • Minimise database downtime and manage parameters to provide fast query responses
  • Provide proactive and reactive data management support and training to users
  • Determine, enforce and document database policies, procedures and standards
  • Perform tests and evaluations regularly to ensure data security, privacy and integrity
  • Monitor database performance, implement changes and apply new patches and versions when required

 

Qualifications / Requirements

·      Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Business Administration, or relevant educational or professional experience.

·      6+ years of IT Experience

·      Proven working experience as a Database Administrator

·      Hands-on experience with database standards and end user applications

·      Excellent knowledge of data backup, recovery, security, integrity and SQL

·      Familiarity with database design, documentation and coding

·      Previous experience with DBA case tools (frontend/backend) and third party tools

·      Familiarity with programming languages API

·      Problem solving skills and ability to think algorithmically
