Your work profile

 

In our BPS Tax team you’ll build and nurture positive working relationships with teams and clients with the intention to exceed client expectations. Your role will include:

 

  • Supervising a team of executives involved in maintenance of books of account in accounting software like Tally/SAP or MS Navision
  • Independently managing clients and developing sound business relationship
  • Helping team in Business development on the client managed by the employee 
  • Hands on experience in MS NAV/Tally/SAP
  • Preparation of financial statements and audit schedules as per India GAAP
  • Liaising with auditors/banks /clients  
  • Preparation and E-filing of VAT/Service tax and TDS returns 
  • Payroll processing and suggesting way to make the system efficient and introduce relevant controls
  • Preparation of Monthly MIS and reconciliations etc.

 

Desired qualifications

We are looking for a seasoned professional to lead Payroll Excellence initiatives across our India payroll operations. The ideal candidate will have deep consulting experience, a comprehensive understanding of India’s payroll compliance and operational landscape, and a track record of driving governance, process standardization, and delivery excellence across large-scale payroll engagements. This role is pivotal in ensuring process adherence, delivery timeliness, accuracy, compliance, and high client satisfaction.

 

Key Responsibilities:

1. Governance & Excellence

  • Drive a robust payroll governance framework to ensure adherence to SLAs, internal controls, and quality standards.
  • Implement best practices in payroll operations and client service, drawing from consulting and industry experience.
  • Conduct periodic reviews to track delivery KPIs and improve end-to-end payroll processes.
  • Act as a custodian of continuous improvement and service transformation initiatives.

2. Process Compliance & Quality

  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll in line with contractual and statutory timelines.
  • Standardize operating procedures (SOPs), documentation, and controls across clients and teams.
  • Monitor error trends, conduct root cause analysis, and lead corrective/preventive actions.
  • Own the change management process for payroll updates (compliance, policy, or technology-led).

3. Stakeholder Management

  • Act as a central point of contact for key internal stakeholders (delivery leads, compliance team, automation team) to ensure seamless service delivery.
  • Work with client teams to define quality benchmarks and implement consistent experience delivery.
  • Support onboarding of new clients and transitions with a focus on building long-term scalable models.

4. Risk, Audit & Compliance

  • Manage audit preparedness across engagements and ensure closure of audit findings.
  • Stay updated with labor laws, PF/ESI, PT, Income Tax, and other statutory payroll regulations in India.
  • Ensure risk mitigation through rigorous checks, validations, and controls.

5. Automation & Reporting

  • Collaborate with tech/automation teams to improve automation coverage across processes.
  • Design and deliver dashboards to track delivery health, SLA compliance, and efficiency metrics.
  • Recommend technology interventions to reduce manual effort and error-prone activities.

 

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Strong understanding of Indian payroll statutory and regulatory frameworks.
  • 8–12 years of overall experience, with at least 3–5 years in payroll consulting, shared services, or third-party delivery models.
  • Proven ability to manage multi-client payroll delivery environments.
  • Experience in quality frameworks like Six Sigma, ISO, or similar will be a plus.
  • Strong analytical, documentation, and governance capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce/Finance/HR; MBA or PGDM preferred.
  • Familiarity with tools such as GreytHR, Zoho, Odoo, darwinbox, SAP HCM, ADP, Ramco, or other leading payroll platforms.

 

Location and way of working.

  • Base location: Mumbai/ Gurgaon/Kolkata/ Bangalore/ Coimbatore.
  • This profile involves frequent travelling to client locations.
  • Hybrid is our default way of working. Each domain has customized the hybrid approach to their unique needs.
