Position Overview

 

We are seeking a highly skilled L1/L2 Support Technician to join our Database Production Operations team. The ideal candidate will have over 7 years of experience in database management and support, with a strong focus on providing technical assistance and troubleshooting for various database systems. This role requires deep technical expertise, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage and resolve database-related issues efficiently.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Support: Provide L1/L2 support for database production operations, including troubleshooting and resolving database-related issues.
  • Incident Management: Respond to and manage incidents related to database performance, availability, and security. Ensure timely resolution and minimal impact on business operations.
  • Monitoring and Maintenance: Monitor database systems to ensure optimal performance and availability. Perform regular maintenance tasks such as backups, patching, and updates.
  • User Assistance: Assist users with database-related queries and issues, providing clear and effective solutions.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of database configurations, procedures, and incident resolutions.
  • Performance Optimization: Identify and address performance bottlenecks and inefficiencies in database systems.
  • Security Management: Implement and manage security measures to protect database systems and data.
  • Compliance: Ensure that all database operations comply with relevant policies, standards, and regulations.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other IT teams to ensure seamless integration and operation of database systems within the broader IT infrastructure.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay current with advancements in database technologies and best practices, continuously improving support processes and procedures.

 

Technical Skills

1.    Environment Monitoring:

2.    "Reporting:

a.    Generate and distribute System Health Indicator (SHI) reports for production environments.

b.    Provide SHI reports for non-production environments.

c.     Address alerts whenever necessary"

3.    Perform daily health checks in addition to regular monitoring to ensure system stability and performance.

4.    Upgrade various application releases within the database on a quarterly cycle.

5.    Perform database upgrades as needed

6.    Perform routine maintenance and updates through patch activities.

7.    "Performance Team Support: Address and resolve issues related to database performance.

8.    Provide ongoing support to the performance team."

9.    Offer support to Level 3 (L3) operations, including scripting and automation tasks.

10. Implement automation solutions for database management and related tasks.

11. Manage tasks related to database certificate maintenance and updates.

12. Conduct proactive system checks focusing on users and other operating system-related tasks.

13. Experience in Database Installation, Patching, and Upgrade. 

14. MySQL backup strategies full backup, incremental backup, and restoration

15. Understanding of Replication Master-Master, Master-Slave

16. Basic Cluster knowledge.

17. Understanding of DR-Drill activities. 

 

Required Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum of 7 years of experience in database management and support, with a focus on production operations.
  • Technical Expertise: Strong technical background with expertise in various database systems such as Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB.
  • Certifications: Relevant database certifications such as Oracle Certified Professional (OCP), Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, MySQL Database Administrator, and PostgreSQL Certified Professional.
  • Problem-Solving: Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex database issues.
  • Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Documentation: Proficiency in maintaining accurate records and generating detailed reports.
  • Security Knowledge: Understanding of database security principles and best practices.
  • Compliance Knowledge: Familiarity with compliance standards such as GDPR, HIPAA, and SOC 2.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Advanced certifications in database technologies are preferred.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certifications: Additional certifications such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Database Security Expert (CDSE), and AWS Certified Database – Specialty.
  • Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with industry-specific regulations and standards.
  • Project Management: Experience in managing database-related projects and initiatives.
  • Advanced Degree: Master's degree in a related field.

 

Working Conditions

  • Location: The role might require to be present in client location/Deloitte offices/Work from Home.
  • Shift Work: This position may require working in shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • On-Call: Availability for on-call duties to respond to major incidents outside of regular working hours.
