Key Responsibilities of an OMS Architect:

  • Solution Design:
  • Designing end-to-end OMS solutions, including order orchestration, sourcing, payment processing, and reverse logistics. 
  • System Architecture:
  • Defining the overall structure and components of the OMS, ensuring it meets performance, scalability, and security requirements. 
  • Integration:
  • Developing integration strategies with other systems like ERP, WMS, POS, eCommerce platforms, and payment gateways. 
  • Technical Leadership:
  • Providing guidance and mentorship to development teams on best practices, configuration, and performance tuning. 
  • Requirement Analysis:
  • Working with business stakeholders to understand their needs and translating them into technical requirements. 
  • Performance Optimization:
  • Ensuring the OMS is optimized for performance and reliability through proactive monitoring and troubleshooting. 
  • Staying Updated:
  • Keeping up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies in order management and retail systems. 

Specific Skills and Experience:

  • Experience with IBM Sterling OMS:
  • A strong understanding and hands-on experience with IBM Sterling OMS is often required for this role.
  • Proficiency in JavaXMLXSLT, and REST/SOAP web services:
  • These are common technologies used in OMS development.
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms and containerization:
  • Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP and technologies like Docker and Kubernetes is often preferred.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills:
  • OMS Architects need to effectively communicate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience with order management processes:
  • A deep understanding of order lifecycle, inventory management, and fulfillment strategies is crucial.
