Your work profile

We are seeking an experienced Oracle DBA to support and operate mission‑critical Oracle databases running in a Software‑Defined Data Center (SDDC) environment. The role covers Oracle installations, backup & recovery, HA/DR, performance tuning, patching, and day‑to‑day operations on VMware vSphere/vSAN/NSX‑T. You will collaborate with compute, storage, network, Linux, and application teams to ensure secure and highly available database services.

Key Responsibilities

Oracle Database Administration

  • Install, configure, and administer Oracle Database 11g/12c/18c/19c/21c in production and non‑production environments.
  • Manage database objects, tablespaces, users, roles, privileges, profiles, and resource controls.
  • Perform routine administrative tasks such as space management, schema maintenance, index management, and stats collection.

HA, DR & Backup Operations

  • Support and maintain Oracle RAC, Oracle Data Guard, Active Data Guard, and standby configurations.
  • Perform and validate RMAN backup & recovery (full, incremental, archived redo logs) and implement recovery strategies including PITR.
  • Assist in DR drills, switchover/failover testing, and maintain DR runbooks aligned to RPO/RTO requirements.
  • Collaborate with backup teams using enterprise tools such as RMAN‑integrated Veeam, Commvault, Rubrik, or Cohesity.

Performance Tuning & Optimization

  • Perform database performance troubleshooting using AWR, ASH, ADDM, SQL Trace, TKPROF, and OEM/Cloud Control.
  • Tune SQL queries, indexes, execution plans, and optimizer statistics.
  • Support application teams with performance assessments, connection tuning, and workload optimization.

SDDC / Virtualization Integration

  • Operate Oracle workloads on VMware vSphere: VM provisioning, resource sizing, templates, snapshots (with DB best practices), vMotion, and storage migrations.
  • Work with storage teams on vSAN, SAN, and NAS storage policies and performance considerations (IOPS/latency).
  • Coordinate with network/SDDC teams on NSX‑T routing, segmentation, micro‑segmentation, and VIP/load balancer dependencies (if applicable).
  • Participate in capacity planning for CPU, memory, and storage.

Security, Compliance & Governance

  • Implement Oracle security: encryption (TDE), auditing, fine‑grained access control (FGAC), database vault (if applicable).
  • Manage roles, privileges, password policies, and secure network configuration (sqlnet, listener security).
  • Support vulnerability remediation, patching cycles (PSU/RU/RUR), and maintain compliance documentation.
  • Ensure logs and events integrate with the enterprise SIEM.

Automation, Monitoring & Documentation

  • Use Shell scripting, Python, SQL scripts, or Ansible for task automation, housekeeping, and operational consistency.
  • Monitor DB availability, health, and performance using Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM), vROps, or other monitoring platforms.
  • Maintain accurate SOPs, runbooks, KB articles, diagrams, CMDB entries, and change documentation.

Operational Excellence

  • Provide L2/L3 support for database incidents, service requests, and planned changes.
  • Participate in incident, change, and problem management using ITIL practices.
  • Work closely with application, Linux, storage, and SDDC teams to deliver reliable and stable Oracle services.
