Role purpose (overall high level summary of the role)
The Data Privacy Analyst supports the creation and ongoing quality monitoring of the Register of Processing Activities (ROPA) which is one of the key requirements under European data privacy law (General Data Protection Regulation - GDPR) and part of HSBC’s key mandatory Data Privacy Controls (Data Visa).
The Data Privacy Analyst will be responsible for:
· continuous quality assurance of newly created ROPA records for HBCE region – to maintain high standard of data and compliance with GDPR,
· performing tactical quality remediation of backlog of existing ROPA records,
· close cooperation with stakeholders in various global businesses and global functions in 11 markets in HBCE region,
· recognising data as an asset to HSBC by managing Data Risk and ensuring we are compliant with our Data standards and policies by using analytics and data science and our data technologies to unlock the value of our data.

Principal Accountabilities and Responsibilities (e.g., for Business, Customers and Stakeholders; internal control environment, etc.)
Key responsibilities include some of but not limited to:
· Manage and deliver projects and tasks related to ROPA backlog remediation and ROPA ongoing quality assurance by the specified deadline of 2026 EOY.
· Help Businesses and Functions act in line with their responsibilities to record their processing activities properly in order to generate accurate ROPA compliant with GDPR.
· Perform reconciliation and deduplication of data, support testing of quality of data and gathering business and function signoff of the ROPA.
· Cooperate closely with the first line of defense (1LoD) and work collaboratively with DPO, Risk Stewards, (2LoD).
· Help to develop and execute quality assurance strategy for HBCE continuous ROPA monitoring, ensuring alignment with organizational standards and objectives and with GDPR.
· Collaborate with multiple stakeholders from different teams to ensure all new initiatives and backlog of ROPA records have a ROPA record compliant with GDPR and populated with accurate and up-to-date information.
· Identify opportunities for process improvements, uncover data inconsistencies and duplication and help implement solutions to enhance accuracy of data, efficiency of ROPA remediation and continuous quality monitoring.
· Prepare detailed reports and documentation on quality assurance activities, findings, and recommendations for senior management review.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Quality Management, or a related field.
- Experience in quality assurance, preferably within a financial services environment.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel. Knowledge of Alteryx or other tools for data analysis and process automation is a plus.
- Experience working with General Data Protection Regulation and with ROPA is a plus.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
