Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Power Platform Functional Consultant cum QA Specialist to lead requirement analysis, solution design, testing, and quality assurance across Power Platform solutions — including Power Pages, Power Apps, Power Automate, and Dataverse.

This hybrid role ensures that business needs are accurately translated into functional designs and rigorously validated through structured QA processes, automated testing, and compliance checks.

You will collaborate closely with architects, developers, and business stakeholders to deliver secure, scalable, and high‑quality solutions.

 

Responsibilities

Functional Consulting

  • Requirement Gathering & Analysis – Engage with business stakeholders to understand functional needs, map processes, and prepare BRDs, FRDs, and user stories.
  • Solution Design – Convert business requirements into functional specifications, data models, mockups, process flows, and acceptance criteria.
  • Business Process Advisory – Recommend best‑practice process improvements leveraging Power Platform capabilities.
  • Workshops & Demos – Conduct requirement workshops, UAT sessions, product demonstrations, and training for business users.
  • Documentation – Develop functional design documents (FDD), test scenarios, SOPs, and knowledge base articles.

Quality Assurance

  • Test Strategy & Planning – Define test plans, test cases, automation strategy, and quality gates for Power Platform solutions.
  • Functional & Regression Testing – Execute manual and automated testing across Power Pages, Power Apps (canvas/model‑driven), Power Automate flows, and Dataverse.
  • Integration Testing – Validate integrations using REST APIs, Logic Apps, Azure Functions, and external systems.
  • Defect Management – Log, track, and verify defects; collaborate with developers for quick resolution.
  • Performance & Security Testing – Support load testing, portal performance validation, security role testing, and compliance checks.
  • UAT Management – Guide business users during UAT cycles, manage feedback, and ensure sign‑off.

Cross‑Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with architects to validate solution feasibility and technical alignment.
  • Support developers in understanding functional requirements, acceptance criteria, and test scenarios.
  • Partner with release engineers for smooth deployments, smoke testing, and post‑deployment validation.

Governance & ALM

  • Ensure adherence to organization policies, DLP rules, solution layering, and change management processes.
  • Support validation activities in CI/CD pipelines, environment migration, and release readiness.

Continuous Improvement

  • Stay updated with Power Platform feature releases, Microsoft roadmap, and QA automation trends.
  • Recommend process improvements, automation opportunities, and reusable test frameworks.

 

Skills & Experience (8–10 years)

Skill Area

Required Proficiency

Power Platform

Strong functional knowledge of Power Pages, Power Apps (canvas/model‑driven), Power Automate, Dataverse.

Testing Expertise

Functional, regression, integration, UAT, API testing; familiarity with automation tools (Selenium, Power Apps Test Studio, Playwright preferred).

Requirements & Analysis

Ability to convert business needs into functional designs, user stories, workflows, and acceptance criteria.

Documentation

Expertise in FDDs, BRDs, test cases, test plans, SOPs, and process documentation.

Process & Domain Knowledge

Understanding of business processes across customer service, operations, self‑service portals, or case management scenarios.

Security & Compliance

Understanding of Dataverse security roles, data access layers, environment governance, and DLP policies.

Tools

Azure DevOps, Jira, Postman, Power Platform Admin Center, test management tools.

Communication

Strong communication skills to coordinate with business users and technical teams.

 

Certifications (Preferred)

  • Microsoft Certified: Power Platform Functional Consultant (PL‑200)
  • Microsoft Certified: Power Platform App Maker (PL‑100)
  • ISTQB / CSTE or similar QA certifications
  • Azure Fundamentals (AZ‑900)

 

Nice to Have

  • Experience in Power Pages portal testing, including web roles, permissions, Liquid behavior, and external authentication scenarios.
  • Working knowledge of dataverse plugins, PCF controls, and their impact on functional and regression test coverage.
  • Exposure to API testing, OAuth flows, and integration validation with Azure services.
  • Hands‑on with Power Platform Build Tools, ALM pipelines, and deployment verification.
  • Understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies using Azure Boards/Jira.
  • Experience with performance testing tools (e.g., JMeter) for portal load validation.
