Job Title: Data Engineer
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines, microservices, and automation solutions in Azure or AWS environments. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in database development, analytical services, and data engineering best practices to support business intelligence, analytics, and data-driven applications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable data pipelines to ingest, transform, and store data from various structured and unstructured sources.
- Develop and maintain automation services for data workflows, monitoring, and error handling to ensure high availability and reliability.
- Build microservices and REST APIs for data processing, enrichment, and access in distributed architectures.
- Design, implement, and optimize database solutions (relational and NoSQL) ensuring data integrity, security, and performance.
- Integrate data pipelines with analytical services such as Power BI, QuickSight, or other BI tools for seamless data consumption.
- Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and application developers to understand data requirements and deliver fit-for-purpose solutions.
- Implement CI/CD pipelines for data engineering workloads using tools like Azure DevOps, AWS CodePipeline, or GitHub Actions.
- Ensure adherence to data governance, security, and compliance standards in all data engineering work.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize existing data workflows for performance and cost-efficiency.
- Stay updated with emerging technologies and best practices in cloud data engineering and microservices architectures.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Data Pipelines & Automation:
- Experience with ETL/ELT tools and frameworks (e.g., Azure Data Factory, AWS Glue, Apache Airflow).
- Strong skills in automation using Python scripting and orchestration services.
Cloud Platforms:
- Hands-on experience with Azure or AWS data services, including but not limited to:
- Azure: Data Factory, Databricks, Synapse Analytics, Cosmos DB, SQL Database.
- AWS: Glue, Lambda, Kinesis, Redshift, DynamoDB, S3.
Microservices Development:
- Designing and developing microservices and RESTful APIs using Python, .NET Core, or Java.
- Understanding of containerization and deployment using Docker and Kubernetes is a plus.
Database Development & Maintenance:
- Strong SQL skills for database design, development, performance tuning, and maintenance.
- Experience with relational databases (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB, DynamoDB, Cosmos DB).
Analytical Services Integration:
- Experience in enabling BI solutions through optimized data models and integrating with tools like Power BI, QuickSight, or Tableau.
DevOps and CI/CD:
- Building CI/CD pipelines for data workflows using Azure DevOps, AWS CodePipeline, or similar tools.
General Skills:
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills in agile environments.
- Data engineering certifications, especially Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate (DP-203), preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Azure Data Factory, Databricks or AWS Glue Jobs, Lambda functions
- Knowledge of machine learning workflows (optional but a plus)
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders
