Your work profile
We are looking for a highly skilled AWS Cloud Engineer/Developer to join our cloud engineering team. As a Senior Engineer/Developer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing AWS-based cloud solutions to support our organization's cloud infrastructure. This includes building and managing scalable, secure, and cost-effective solutions using a variety of AWS services.
You will work on cloud architecture, infrastructure as code (IaC), automation, and application development in an AWS environment. Your experience with AWS services, cloud development practices, and engineering will be critical in ensuring that we meet the operational, security, and scalability needs of our business.
Key Responsibilities:
Cloud Architecture & Design:
Design, build, and deploy scalable, secure, and highly available AWS cloud infrastructures for applications and services.
Architect and implement cloud-native solutions using AWS services such as EC2, Lambda, S3, RDS, DynamoDB, VPC, and others.
Work with other engineers to design cloud architectures that optimize cost, performance, and security for production workloads.
Infrastructure as Code (IaC):
Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like AWS CloudFormation, Terraform, or AWS CDK to automate the provisioning and management of AWS resources.
Develop and manage reusable IaC templates to deploy cloud infrastructure and application stacks consistently.
Cloud Automation & DevOps:
Design and implement automation solutions to streamline the deployment, scaling, and management of cloud applications and services.
Support and enhance CI/CD pipelines for continuous integration and deployment, enabling agile development practices and fast delivery.
Integrate cloud services into automated workflows, ensuring faster and more reliable deployments.
Cloud Application Development:
Develop and optimize cloud-based applications and services using languages such as Python, Java, Node.js, or Go.
Implement microservices and serverless architectures leveraging AWS Lambda, API Gateway, and other serverless tools.
Build RESTful APIs and integrate applications with other AWS services such as S3, DynamoDB, RDS, and SQS.
Performance Monitoring & Optimization:
Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting mechanisms using AWS CloudWatch, AWS X-Ray, and other monitoring tools.
Optimize AWS resources for performance and cost, ensuring that cloud applications are reliable, secure, and cost-effective.
Perform regular audits and reviews of cloud resources to identify areas for optimization and improvement.
Security & Compliance:
Apply best practices in cloud security, ensuring data integrity, privacy, and compliance with internal and external regulations (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR, SOC 2).
Implement identity and access management (IAM) policies, encryption strategies, and multi-factor authentication (MFA) to secure AWS resources.
Perform vulnerability assessments and work with the security team to ensure secure and compliant cloud environments.
Collaboration & Mentorship:
Work closely with other teams including developers, operations, and security to implement cloud solutions that meet the organization’s needs.
Act as a mentor to junior engineers and developers, providing guidance on cloud architecture, best practices, and development standards.
Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and collaborative problem-solving.
Troubleshooting & Incident Management:
Troubleshoot cloud infrastructure issues, resolve production incidents, and provide escalation support for cloud services.
Participate in post-incident reviews to identify root causes and implement solutions to prevent future issues.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Experience:
At least 4-8 years of experience in cloud engineering, application development, or cloud architecture, with significant hands-on experience with AWS services.
Proven expertise in building and deploying scalable cloud applications and services on AWS.
Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as AWS CloudFormation, Terraform, or AWS CDK.
Experience with AWS serverless technologies (e.g., Lambda, API Gateway, S3, DynamoDB).
Proficient in at least one cloud programming language such as Python, Node.js, Java, or Go.
Technical Skills:
Deep knowledge of AWS core services: EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, DynamoDB, VPC, IAM, CloudFormation, CloudWatch, and others.
Strong experience with CI/CD pipelines and automation tools such as Jenkins, GitLab, AWS CodePipeline, and Docker.
Familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS ECS or EKS.
Proficiency in cloud monitoring and logging tools such as AWS CloudWatch, Datadog, or ELK stack.
Certifications:
AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional (preferred).
AWS Certified Developer – Associate or AWS Certified SysOps Administrator – Associate.
Other relevant AWS certifications are a plus.
Soft Skills:
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to debug complex issues in a distributed, cloud-based environment.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Ability to work in an agile environment and adapt to changing requirements and priorities.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
Preferred Skills:
Familiarity with hybrid and multi-cloud architectures and other cloud providers (e.g., Azure, Google Cloud).
Experience with cloud security frameworks, including AWS Well-Architected Framework, and security best practices.
Understanding of DevOps principles and experience working in a DevOps-oriented culture.
Knowledge of cloud cost management and optimization strategies using AWS tools like Cost Explorer, Trusted Advisor, and Compute Optimizer.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
