Your work profile

• We are seeking a highly skilled Mainframe Modernization DevOps Engineer with hands-on experience in Rocket Software solutions and enterprise DevOps practices to support large-scale mainframe modernization and digital transformation programs. The ideal candidate will have expertise in modernizing legacy mainframe development processes, implementing CI/CD pipelines, automating testing and deployments, and integrating mainframe applications with modern DevOps ecosystems.
• The role requires strong knowledge of z/OS environments, application lifecycle management, source code management, automation frameworks, and Rocket Software DevOps solutions to accelerate application delivery while maintaining enterprise-grade reliability and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement DevOps practices for mainframe modernization programs.
• Modernize software development lifecycle (SDLC) processes for mainframe applications.
• Implement and support CI/CD pipelines for COBOL, PL/I, JCL, and related workloads.
• Integrate mainframe development workflows with enterprise DevOps platforms.
• Automate code builds, testing, deployment, and release management processes.
• Configure and administer Rocket Software DevOps and modernization tools.
• Collaborate with application developers, infrastructure teams, and cloud engineers.
• Establish automated quality gates, code scanning, and deployment controls.
• Support migration from traditional waterfall delivery models to Agile and DevOps practices.
• Monitor deployment performance and recommend process improvements.
• Develop automation scripts and reusable deployment frameworks.
• Ensure compliance with enterprise governance, audit, and security requirements. 

Required Qualifications

• 6+ years of IT experience with at least 3 years in DevOps or mainframe modernization initiatives.
• Strong experience supporting enterprise-scale mainframe environments.
• Hands-on experience implementing Rocket Software-based DevOps solutions.
• Experience working in Agile and DevOps delivery environments.
• Strong understanding of software release governance and change management.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with IBM Z DevOps ecosystem.
• Experience modernizing banking, insurance, retail, healthcare, or telecom applications.
• Knowledge of API enablement and microservices integration.
• Experience implementing DevSecOps practices.
• Cloud certifications (Azure, AWS, Red Hat OpenShift).
• Rocket Software certifications preferred.
