Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst (BA) on an outsourced/contractual basis to support digital insurance solutioning initiatives across life, health and general insurance. The role requires a strong techno-functional mindset, with deep API-level understanding, enabling seamless collaboration between business stakeholders, product teams, technology, and external partners.
The ideal candidate will have an MBA + B.Tech / BE background and hands-on experience in digital insurance journeys, insurer integrations, and API-driven platforms.
We are looking at someone who has enough depth in advanced analytics or data tools like SQL, Python, Power BI or similar apart from Excel and KPI tracking. Also, the candidate to have hands-on experience with regards to API’s consisting of API documentation, Postman, Swagger, testing tools or backend development
Key Responsibilities
Business & Requirement Analysis
- Engage with business, product, operations, and technology teams to understand insurance use cases, workflows, and pain points.
- Elicit, analyze, and document business, functional, and non-functional requirements.
- Create and maintain BRDs, FRDs, user stories, acceptance criteria, process flows, and data mappings.
- Ensure end-to-end requirement traceability across solutioning, development, and testing phases.
Digital Insurance Solutioning
- Support solution design for end-to-end digital insurance journeys.
- Work closely with architects and developers to ensure business requirements align with technical feasibility.
- Participate in solution walkthroughs, design reviews, and dependency discussions.
API & Integration Ownership (Key Requirement)
- Possess clear understanding of REST APIs and integration-led architectures.
- Be able to read, interpret, and review API specifications (request/response structures, headers, payloads, error codes).
- Define and validate:
- API contracts and data elements
- Mandatory vs optional fields
- Business rule validations
- Error and exception handling logic
- Support integrations with:
- Insurers / reinsurers
- KYC providers
- Payment gateways
- Third-party insurtech platforms
- Work with tech teams to ensure correct mapping of business rules at API level, avoiding downstream issues during UAT and go-live.
Stakeholder & Vendor Management
- Act as the primary interface between business users, internal tech teams, and external partners.
- Coordinate with insurer / vendor teams for API clarifications, dependency resolution, and sign-offs.
- Drive requirement walkthroughs, impact assessments, and solution alignment sessions.
Testing, UAT & Go-Live Support
- Create and review test scenarios, UAT cases, and negative scenarios, especially around API failures and edge cases.
- Support defect triaging by identifying whether issues are data, rule, API, or integration related.
- Assist in pre-go-live readiness, release documentation, and post-production stabilization.
Governance & Documentation
- Ensure compliance with internal governance, audit, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain documentation for:
- Change requests & impact analysis
- API change logs
- Release notes and solution summaries
- Support leadership reviews with concise decks and decision-oriented documentation.
Required Skills & Experience
Educational Qualification
- MBA (Finance / Operations / Systems preferred) + B.Tech / BE
- BA / Agile / Product certifications are a plus.
Experience
- 2–4 years of experience as a Business Analyst in insurance, BFSI, or insurtech.
- Proven experience working on API-driven digital platforms.
- Experience in Agile / hybrid delivery models.

- Strong insurance domain knowledge (products, workflows, regulations).
- Hands-on API understanding (ability to discuss integrations confidently with tech teams).
- Experience in digital journeys, data mapping, and workflow orchestration.
