The Team
Deloitte’s Technology & Transformation practice can help you uncover and unlock the value buried deep inside vast amounts of data. Our global network provides strategic guidance and implementation services to help companies manage data from disparate sources and convert it into accurate, actionable information that can support fact-driven decision-making and generate an insight-driven advantage. Our practice addresses the continuum of opportunities in business intelligence & visualization, data management, performance management and next-generation analytics and technologies, including big data, cloud, cognitive and machine learning.
We are looking for an experienced ETL and Data Migration Tester to join our QA team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in testing complex data pipelines, validating data transformations, and supporting large-scale data migration projects across cloud or on-premise platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze ETL mappings, business rules, and data flow diagrams to design test strategies.
- Develop and execute test cases and SQL queries to validate data transformation logic, data quality, and completeness.
- Perform source-to-target data validation and reconciliation between legacy and target systems.
- Validate data migration from legacy systems to data warehouses or cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS, GCP).
- Collaborate with ETL developers, business analysts, and data architects to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
- Conduct smoke testing, system testing, regression testing, and UAT support.
- Work with data profiling and data quality tools to identify anomalies.
- Log, track, and close defects using tools like JIRA, ALM, or Azure DevOps.
- Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies and contribute to sprint goals and QA metrics.
Required Skills:
- 7+ years of QA experience with at least 4+ years in ETL testing and data migration projects.
- Proficient in writing complex SQL queries for data validation (joins, aggregations, subqueries).
- Strong understanding of ETL tools such as Informatica, Talend, SSIS, or equivalent.
- Experience in validating large-scale data migration projects (on-prem to cloud or system upgrades).
- Hands-on experience in testing data warehouse and data lake environments.
- Familiarity with data modeling concepts (Star, Snowflake schemas).
- Experience with Agile methodology and tools like JIRA, Confluence, Azure DevOps.
- Knowledge of data profiling, data cleansing, and DQ tools (e.g., Informatica DQ, Talend DQ) is a plus.
Good to Have:
- Knowledge of cloud data platforms like Azure Synapse, AWS Redshift, or Google BigQuery.
- Experience with Python or Shell scripting for test automation or data manipulation.
- Exposure to BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Qlik for validating reporting layers.
- Understanding of data security, PII masking, and compliance requirements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- ETL tool certifications or Data Engineering-related credentials (preferred but not mandatory).
- Base location: Bangalore
