This role focuses on day‑to‑day operations, incident resolution, platform optimization, automation, and governance across hybrid/SDDC workloads.

Key Responsibilities

Windows Platform Operations

  • Manage, configure, and troubleshoot Windows Server 2012/2016/2019/2022 in virtualized SDDC environments.
  • Handle OS hardening, patching, performance tuning, and lifecycle management.
  • Administer Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and Certificate Services.
  • Support enterprise authentication & security integrations (Kerberos, LDAP, PKI, MFA solutions).
  • Manage clustering (Failover Clustering, Always‑On features if applicable).

SDDC / Virtualization

  • Operate Windows workloads running on VMware vSphere ESXi/vCenter.
  • Perform VM provisioning, resource allocation, performance troubleshooting, templates, snapshots, and host migrations.
  • Collaborate with SDDC teams to support platforms such as vSAN, NSX‑T, and VCF.

Storage, Backup & DR

  • Work with storage teams on SAN/NAS/vSAN integrations for Windows servers.
  • Manage and validate application‑aware backups using Veeam/Commvault/Rubrik/Cohesity.
  • Support DR planning, failover, and recovery using SRM/HCX (if applicable) and restore testing.

Security, Compliance & Governance

  • Implement OS hardening (CIS/industry benchmarks).
  • Patch and remediate vulnerabilities, tracking CVEs and security advisories.
  • Implement and manage RBAC, auditing, and least‑privilege access.
  • Ensure logs, configurations, and events are integrated with SIEM tools.

Automation & Observability

  • Automate tasks using PowerShell, PowerCLI, Ansible, or Terraform (if applicable).
  • Maintain monitoring & alerting through tools like vROps, SCOM, Nagios, Grafana, Elastic, or equivalents.
  • Create runbooks, SOPs, architecture diagrams, and KB documentation.

Operations Excellence

  • Provide strong L2/L3 operational support for Windows systems.
  • Participate in on‑call/rotational support for critical systems.
  • Execute incident/problem/change management aligned to ITIL.
  • Work collaboratively with networking, security, storage, virtualization, and application teams
  • 6–8 years of hands‑on experience in enterprise Windows Server administration.

 Key skills required:

  • Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy
  • Windows patching & vulnerability remediation
  • PowerShell scripting
  • Server performance troubleshooting
  • Solid experience operating Windows workloads in VMware SDDC:
  • vSphere clusters, HA/DRS
  • Templates, snapshots, VM migrations
  • Integration with vSAN/SAN/NAS
  • Experience with enterprise backup platforms:
  • Veeam, Commvault, Rubrik, or Cohesity
  • Familiarity with ITIL processes and enterprise operations.
  • Understanding of networking basics (VLANs, routing, firewall rules) as they relate to Windows servers.
  • Ability to work in a hybrid environment spanning on‑prem SDDC and cloud workloads.
  • Exposure to NSX‑T, Nutanix AHV, or HCI platforms.
  • Experience with Azure AD, Intune, SCCM/MECM, or Tanium.
  • Scripting/automation (PowerShell DSC, PowerCLI, Ansible).
  • Experience with SQL Server administration basics.
