The Team
The Deloitte Workday team provides the full range of services for clients from the initial planning stages, through full system implementation to on-going support. The Deloitte Workday team are not purely system implementors as the service goes beyond to ensure our clients get the most benefit from their Workday solution. For the Workday team, this means not just fixing issues but providing advisory and guidance on ways to optimize and enhance the Workday experience.
Work you’ll do
As a Team Lead - Cross Train, you will leverage your existing HR ERP functional knowledge and experience to build expertise in Workday Human Capital Management (HCM). Through structured cross-training, hands-on learning, and guidance from experienced Workday team members, you will support configuration, testing, data validation, production support, and continuous improvement activities while developing proficiency across Workday Core HCM.
Key Responsibilities
1. HR ERP Knowledge & Workday Cross-Training:
- Apply existing HR ERP/HCM knowledge of employee master data, organizational structures, jobs, positions, and worker lifecycle processes while learning the equivalent Workday concepts and terminology.
- Participate in structured Workday Core HCM cross-training, sandbox exercises, knowledge-transfer sessions, and guided hands-on configuration activities.
- Develop an understanding of Workday Supervisory Organizations, Staffing Models, Job Profiles, Positions, Locations, Companies, Cost Centers, and Worker Lifecycle events.
- Build capability to analyze HR business requirements and map existing HR ERP processes to Workday functionality and leading practices.
2. Workday Configuration, Testing & Functional Support:
- Assist with Workday Core HCM configuration under guidance, including organization structures, staffing, job and position setup, worker lifecycle transactions, and Business Process Framework (BPF).
- Support configuration of condition rules, validation rules, notifications, approvals, To-Do steps, and role-based security as cross-training progresses.
- Execute unit testing, regression testing, smoke testing, and business process validation; document results and support defect resolution.
- Learn and support data loads and mass updates using Enterprise Interface Builder (EIB), with appropriate validation and reconciliation.
3. Data, Release & Migration Support:
- Validate worker, organization, and configuration data across source HR ERP systems and Workday during learning, testing, migration, or support activities.
- Support mapping, cleansing, reconciliation, and validation of HR data for Workday-related activities.
- Participate in Workday release impact analysis, regression testing, tenant migration, smoke testing, and post-deployment validation.
- Maintain test evidence, configuration workbooks, data-validation records, and other project or support documentation.
4. Cross-Functional Support & Operational Governance:
- Collaborate with HR functional teams such as Payroll, Benefits, Compensation, Absence, Time Tracking, Recruiting, Security, Reporting, and Integrations to understand end-to-end process dependencies.
- Use prior HR ERP knowledge to identify upstream and downstream impacts and support issue triage across functional areas.
- Participate in incident reviews, backlog discussions, enhancement planning, knowledge-transfer sessions, and operational governance meetings.
- Follow ITIL, Agile, change-management, documentation, and quality standards applicable to AMS/Operate or implementation engagements.
5. Client Engagement, Learning & Continuous Improvement:
- Communicate progress, issues, risks, testing outcomes, and learning needs clearly with team members and business stakeholders.
- Demonstrate a strong learning mindset and progressively take ownership of Workday Core HCM tasks as proficiency develops.
- Identify opportunities to simplify HR processes, improve data quality, strengthen controls, and reduce manual effort by applying transferable HR ERP experience.
- Contribute to SOPs, knowledge articles, playbooks, reusable assets, and team knowledge repositories.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Information Technology, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
- 2–5 years of hands-on functional experience in an HR ERP/HCM platform such as SAP SuccessFactors, SAP HCM, Oracle HCM Cloud, PeopleSoft HCM, or a comparable enterprise HR system; prior Workday experience is an advantage but not mandatory.
- Strong understanding of HR master data, organization structures, job and position management, worker lifecycle processes, business workflows, approvals, and role-based security within an HR ERP/HCM platform.
- Experience in functional configuration, testing, data validation, issue analysis, production support, or enhancement delivery within an HR ERP/HCM environment.
- Demonstrated ability and willingness to cross-train on Workday Core HCM; relevant HR ERP/HCM certification is preferred.
Desired Skills
- Strong functional knowledge of HR processes including employee lifecycle, organizational management, job/position management, and HR master data.
- Experience with workflow configuration, approvals, business rules, validations, and process controls in an HR ERP/HCM solution.
- Understanding of role-based access, data security, and segregation-of-duties concepts within enterprise HR systems.
- Exposure to HR data interfaces, inbound/outbound integrations, reporting, data loads, and downstream validation; willingness to learn Workday EIB, Core Connector: Worker (CCW), and Reports-as-a-Service (RaaS).
- Familiarity with ITIL, Incident Management, Problem Management, Change Management, Agile, Azure DevOps/Jira, and SLA-based support or project delivery.
- Strong analytical, learning, client-facing, documentation, and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to translate transferable HR ERP knowledge into Workday capability.
