Job Position – Chief of Staff + Technical Project Manager
Job Summary:
The Chief of Staff for Technology Projects will serve as a strategic partner to the Head of Technology, driving the planning, execution, and delivery of critical technology initiatives. This role involves high-impact project oversight, cross-functional coordination, and ensuring alignment with American Express India’s strategic goals. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership, technical expertise, and a deep understanding of SDLC processes to facilitate seamless project execution and foster innovation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Planning & Alignment:
- Collaborate with senior leadership to define project priorities aligned with organizational goals.
- Assist in translating strategic initiatives into actionable project plans.
- Project Oversight & Delivery:
- Oversee the end-to-end management of critical technology projects, ensuring timely delivery within scope and budget.
- Monitor project performance, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies.
- Technical Expertise & SDLC Knowledge:
- Provide technical guidance and insights throughout project lifecycle stages.
- Ensure adherence to best practices in SDLC methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, DevOps).
- Facilitate technical reviews, architecture assessments, and quality assurance processes.
- Stakeholder Management:
- Act as a bridge between technical teams, senior management, and external partners.
- Facilitate communication and ensure stakeholders are informed and engaged.
- Operational Efficiency:
- Drive process improvements to enhance project management practices.
- Develop frameworks for reporting, tracking, and evaluating project success.
- Cross-functional Coordination:
- Coordinate efforts across technology, business units, and vendors.
- Foster collaboration to accelerate project milestones.
- Leadership & Team Support:
- Provide guidance and mentorship to project managers and technical teams.
- Support the CTO and leadership team with strategic insights and recommendations.
- Innovation & Continuous Improvement:
- Stay updated on emerging technologies and industry best practices.
- Promote a culture of continuous learning and innovation within the team.
- Power point & Reporting skills
- Excellent PPT skills to articulate the relevat information, reporting to leadership
- Presenting and communicating the information to LT’s which helps them to make informed decisions.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or related field; MBA or relevant advanced degree preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in technology project management, program management,
- Proven experience managing large-scale, complex technology initiatives.
- Strong technical expertise in software development, systems architecture, cloud platforms, cybersecurity, and emerging technologies.
- In-depth knowledge of SDLC methodologies (Agile, Scrum, Waterfall, DevOps) and best practices.
- Excellent understanding of project management tools and methodologies.
- Exceptional leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to influence and collaborate across diverse teams and stakeholders.
