Your work profile
As an Assistant Manager in Deloitte’s SRT Sustainability team, you will support and lead components of social impact assessments, due diligence, and lender advisory assignments across sectors. The role will focus on baseline data collection, stakeholder engagement, social risk assessment, and compliance assessment against international standards including IFC Performance Standards, ADB Safeguards, and EHS Guidelines as well as national regulations.
You will be working on solving full spectrum of sustainability and climate change challenges across a wide range of clients across industry sectors. You will not just be working on ideas and recommendations to solve the client’s challenges, in most cases you would also be walking with the client in implementing those recommendations and in advising clients as they establish and improve internal processes for collecting, analyzing, measuring, and reporting information.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support social baseline studies, including primary surveys, stakeholder consultations, and field data collection.
- Contribute to and manage sections of Environmental & Social Impact Assessments (ESIA) focusing on social risks and impacts.
- Execute Environmental & Social Due Diligence (ESDD) assignments for lender and investor clients.
- Conduct gap assessments against IFC Performance Standards (esp. PS1, PS5), ADB Safeguards, and World Bank Group EHS Guidelines.
- Assess land acquisition, involuntary resettlement, livelihood impacts, community health & safety, and vulnerable groups.
- Support lender’s advisory mandates, including monitoring, compliance audits, and implementation reviews.
- Assist in impact investing evaluations, ESG screening, and social risk profiling.
- Review and interpret social regulations, permits, and compliance requirements across project geographies.
- Prepare high-quality reports, presentations, and client deliverables.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and contribute to proposal development and business support.

Key skills required:
In order to be considered for the role, your competencies will cover the broad scope of business modelling services, leveraging your professional background and skills such as:
- Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Social Sciences, Sociology, Development Studies, Anthropology, or related field.
- 2–4 years of experience in social impact, ESIA/ESDD, or sustainability consulting.
- Strong understanding of:
- Social baseline surveys and field methodologies
- Stakeholder engagement and consultation processes
- IFC Performance Standards (especially PS1 & PS5)
- ADB Safeguards and EHS Guidelines
- Experience working on lender-funded projects, DFIs, or impact investing assignments preferred.
- Knowledge of social regulations, land acquisition frameworks, and compliance requirements.
- Strong analytical, writing, and stakeholder management skills.
- Willingness to travel for fieldwork and site assessments.
Preferred Attributes
- Experience conducting household surveys, FGDs, and socio-economic assessments.
- Exposure to resettlement action plans (RAPs) and livelihood restoration planning.
- Familiarity with ESG frameworks and sustainability reporting.
- Strong team collaboration, ownership, and problem-solving mindset.
- Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
- Strong network in climate change and sustainability fraternity
