Role Summary
Deloitte is seeking a Smart Metering Expert to support the design, implementation, monitoring, and optimization of smart metering projects across utilities and power distribution companies (DISCOMs). The role will focus on smart meter deployment, AMI systems, data analytics, stakeholder coordination, and ensuring alignment with national power sector reform initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Support implementation and monitoring of smart metering and Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) projects.
- Review smart meter deployment progress, performance metrics, and operational KPIs.
- Coordinate with DISCOMs, system integrators, meter vendors, communication service providers, and government stakeholders.
- Analyze metering data to identify trends, losses, anomalies, and opportunities for operational improvement.
- Support preparation of project reports, dashboards, management presentations, and progress reviews.
- Validate compliance with technical specifications, quality standards, and contractual requirements.
- Assist in troubleshooting operational and technical issues related to smart metering systems.
- Contribute to capacity building, knowledge sharing, and best practice documentation.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in smart metering, AMI, power distribution, utility operations, or related domains.
- Experience working with DISCOMs, utility digitization projects, or government-sponsored power sector programs.
- Understanding of smart meter technologies, communication networks, and meter data management systems (MDMS).
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of AMI architecture, RF/Cellular communication technologies, HES, and MDMS platforms.
- Familiarity with RDSS, smart grid initiatives, energy accounting, and loss reduction programs.
- Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools such as Excel, Power BI, or similar platforms.
- Strong analytical, stakeholder management, communication, and problem-solving skills.
