Your work Profile.

  • The Process Safety Management (PSM) Reviewer is responsible for independently reviewing, evaluating, and assuring the effectiveness of the Process Safety Management system across steel manufacturing operations. The role ensures compliance with statutory requirements, corporate standards, and industry best practices to prevent major accident hazards, fires, explosions, and toxic releases. 

 

Key skills required: 

  • Review and assess the effectiveness of the Process Safety Management framework in compliance with applicable Indian regulations (Factories Act, MSIHC Rules, PESO, OISD) and international standards (OSHA PSM, CCPS, ISO 45001).
  • Review Process Hazard Analyses (HAZID, HAZOP, What-If, FMEA, JSA) for iron and steelmaking operations including Coke Oven, Sinter Plant, Blast Furnace, BOF, EAF, Rolling Mills, utilities, and gas handling systems.
  • Verify completeness and accuracy of Process Safety Information (PSI) such as PFDs, P&IDs, MSDS/SDS, design and operating limits, relief systems, interlocks, and safety-critical equipment documentation.
  • Review Management of Change (MOC) processes for technical, operational, and organizational changes, ensuring proper risk assessment, authorization, PSSR completion, and closure.
  • Evaluate Mechanical Integrity and Asset Integrity programs for critical equipment including furnaces, pressure systems, gas pipelines, cranes, refractory linings, and safety-instrumented systems.
  • Review operating procedures, emergency procedures, permit-to-work systems, confined space entry, hot work, and contractor safety practices for adequacy and compliance.
  • Review incident, near-miss, and dangerous occurrence investigations to ensure robust root cause analysis, learning dissemination, and effectiveness of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Assess emergency preparedness and response arrangements, including on-site/off-site emergency plans, mock drills, gas leak scenarios (CO, BF gas), fire and explosion risk management, and mutual aid coordination.
  • Conduct PSM audits and reviews, monitor leading and lagging process safety performance indicators, and present findings, trends, and improvement recommendations to senior management.
  • Review governance, competency, and training frameworks related to process safety, including leadership involvement, contractor integration, and overall PSM culture maturity.
