Job Description: SAP BW / SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) Consultant (Consultant Level)

Role Overview

We are seeking an SAP BW / SAC Consultant to design, build, and deliver enterprise analytics and planning solutions. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience in data modeling on SAP BW (preferably BW/4HANA) and dashboarding/visualization (SAC Stories) and/or SAC Planning, with strong skills in data integration, performance tuning, and stakeholder engagement.

Key Responsibilities

1) Solution Design & Delivery

• Lead/participate in requirements workshops, translate business needs into analytics/semantic models and planning templates.
• Design and configure SAP BW artifacts:
• ADSO, CompositeProviders, Open ODS Views, InfoObjects, Transformations, Process Chains
• HANA Views (Calculation Views), CDS-exposed data, virtual access (SDA/SDI)
• Data acquisition from S/4HANA/ECC, IBP, SuccessFactors, Ariba, non-SAP (files/APIs/DBs)
• Build SAC Stories (responsive layouts, bookmarking, input controls, linked analysis), Analytic Applications (if applicable), and SAC Planning models (dimensions, versions, drivers, data actions).
• Develop KPIs, calculations, measures, and reusable semantic layers; ensure data lineage and governance.
• Prepare Functional Specifications (FS) for integrations, authorizations, scheduling, and custom logic.

2) Integration & Data Management

• Orchestrate ETL/ELT with BW data flows; schedule and monitor Process Chains and Application Jobs.
• Integrate SAC with BW/4HANA, S/4HANA, HANA, and other sources via Live and Import connections.
• Coordinate authorizations (BW analysis authorizations, SAC roles/teams), ensure row-level security and SoD compliance.
• Perform data validations, reconciliation, and performance optimization (query tuning, aggregates, pushdown to HANA).

3) Testing, Cutover & Support

• Create test scripts and execute UT/SIT/UAT; manage defects, retests, and sign-offs.
• Plan and execute cutover: initial data loads, connection setup, scheduling, cache/warm-up.
• Provide hypercare and steady-state support; monitor loads, optimize queries, resolve incidents within SLAs, and deliver enhancements.

4) Governance, Documentation & Change

• Maintain documentation (BRDs, solution design, data dictionaries, lineage diagrams, SOPs, training).
• Drive data quality processes and engage with data owners/stewards.
• Support change management and enable user adoption through training, guides, and office hours.

Required Skills & Experience

Functional / Analytics

• 3–5 years of hands-on experience in SAP BW (preferably BW/4HANA) and SAP Analytics Cloud.
• Strong proficiency in:
• BW Modeling: ADSO types, CompositeProviders, Open ODS, Transformations, routines (AMDP/ABAP)
• BW Query Design (Eclipse/Query Designer), variables, restricted/calculated key figures
• SAC: Story design, modeling, calculations, data access controls; Planning (models, versions, data actions, multi-actions, advanced formulas) is a plus
• Understanding of business processes & KPIs in at least one area: Finance (P&L/BS/CF), Sales (OTC), Procurement (PTP), Inventory, Manufacturing.

Technical / Tooling

• Experience with S/4HANA extractors, ODP/ODQ, SLT/SDI/SDA, flat-files, and APIs.
• HANA modeling (Calculation Views), SQLScript/AMDP basics for performance pushdown.
• Familiarity with Fiori Analytical apps, Analysis for Office, and SAC Live vs Import pros/cons.
• Knowledge of BW analysis authorizations and SAC security (roles/teams) design.
• Exposure to SAP Datasphere (formerly DWC) and SAC with Datasphere is an advantage.

Education & Certifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, IT, Data/Analytics, Finance, or related field.
• SAP BW/4HANA and/or SAP Analytics Cloud certification (preferred).
• Any data/BI certifications (e.g., SQL, Data Modeling, data visualization) are a plus.
