Your work profile
We are looking for experienced professionals with strong exposure to Maintenance, Reliability, Inspection, and Asset Integrity functions within Oil & Gas, Refinery, or Petrochemical environments to support a risk-based internal audit engagement in KSA.
The role involves evaluating governance, maintenance practices, reliability engineering controls, inspection activities, SAP PM processes, shutdown/turnaround management, and asset integrity frameworks in line with industry standards and operational leading practices.
- Review maintenance and inspection organizational structures, governance frameworks, and reporting lines.
- Assess clarity of roles and responsibilities across Maintenance, Reliability, Inspection, and Engineering teams.
- Evaluate compliance with company policies, OEM guidelines, international standards, and operational procedures.
- Review maintenance strategy, workforce competency management, training records, certifications, and technical accreditations.
- Assess controls within SAP PM and related maintenance systems.
- Review Segregation of Duties (SoD), workflow approvals, and maintenance system access controls.
- Evaluate maintenance-related business automation processes and data integrity controls.
- Review equipment master data, BOM structures, calibration records, and maintenance history accuracy.
- Evaluate Preventive Maintenance (PM) and Predictive Maintenance (PdM) programs.
- Review condition monitoring activities such as vibration analysis, thermography, oil analysis, and equipment health monitoring.
- Assess work order management, backlog monitoring, shutdown planning, turnaround execution, and maintenance scheduling practices.
- Review lube oil analysis programs, warranty management, repairable spare management, and contractor performance monitoring.
- Evaluate maintenance budgeting and accounting treatment of Capex/Opex activities.
- Assess controls over Permit to Work (PTW), Lock Out–Tag Out (LOTO), bypass management, MOS tracking, and SIF override processes.
- Review maintenance coordination with Operations, HSSE, Technical Services, and Engineering functions.
- Evaluate periodic testing and maintenance of safety critical equipment including H2S gas detectors and safety instrumented systems.
- Review reliability governance frameworks including RCA, FMECA, RBI, and RBM methodologies.
- Assess bad actor analysis, continuous improvement initiatives, and reliability performance monitoring.
- Evaluate equipment criticality assessments and asset lifecycle management practices.
- Assess inspection strategies, work order scheduling, inspection deferral management, and integrity monitoring practices.
- Review corrosion monitoring programs, thickness monitoring, injection point inspections, dead-leg management, and hydrotesting activities.
- Evaluate NDT practices, refractory inspections, pressure vessel inspections, cathodic protection systems, and technical documentation controls.
Key skills required:
- B. Tech/ B.E with minimum 8-15 years of relevant industry experience.
- Preference will be given to candidates holding relevant professional certifications such as: CMRP (Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional), API 510 / API 570 / API 653, API RBI, NDT Level II / III Certifications, ISO 55001 Awareness / Asset Management Certifications, Functional Safety / ISA Certifications, PMP (preferred for turnaround/shutdown profiles), CIA / CRMA (preferred for audit-focused professionals)
- Strong experience in:
- Refinery / Petrochemical / Oil & Gas operations
- Maintenance & Reliability Engineering
- Inspection & Asset Integrity Management
- Shutdown / Turnaround Management
- Operational / Technical / Internal Audit engagements
- Prior exposure to Saudi Aramco, SABIC, SATORP, ADNOC, or similar environments is preferred.
- Experience in SAP PM and maintenance planning systems is mandatory.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Good report writing and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to conduct site walkthroughs, technical interviews, and control testing independently.
- Strong communication and coordination skills in multicultural environments.
- Ability to work under tight timelines within refinery operational environments.
