Your work profile
As a Manager (Biodiversity and Ecological Studies) in our Sustainability team, you’ll build and nurture positive working relationships Working as a part of the ESG team, your primary role will be to make direct contributions on client engagements, centered around the development and implementation of the client’s strategic ESG and Climate & Sustainability initiatives across the Asia-Pacific region. The responsibilities of this role may include:
Project Delivery
- Conduct ecological and biodiversity assessments (baseline surveys, habitat mapping, species inventories).
- Develop biodiversity action plans and nature-based solutions aligned with national and global frameworks (e.g., IFC performance Standards, PS-6, NBAP, GBF, IUCN).
- Support clients in achieving biodiversity-related ESG goals and regulatory compliance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on environmental impact assessments (EIAs), ecological restoration, and offset strategies
- Guide your peers and junior team members of methodologies to be adopted in field work and secondary research. Review their work and provide guidance
- Engage with stakeholders including local communities, NGOs, and government bodies.
- Monitor and report biodiversity performance indicators and outcomes.
- Supervise and hold the report for client submission
- Stay updated on emerging biodiversity policies, tools, and technologies
Stakeholder Management
- Lead partner firm engagements and account management for services relating to biodiversity studies as mentioned above including reporting, etc
- Lead day-to-day interactions with stakeholders/clients and lead the meetings
- Manage teams to deliver the project
- Help create a strong team of professionals by attracting external talent, and strengthen in-house team by mentoring juniors
Business Development
- Provide pursuit support by preparing proposals / pitches to bring new business, leveraging Deloitte’s global credentials.
- Support the Manager/ Partner in pitching for new business
- Work with team to conduct primary and secondary research to prepare Thought Leadership (TLs) and Point of View (PoV) documents
Desired qualifications
- Practitioner 8–12 years of relevant experience in ecology, biodiversity, or conservation advisory.
- Experience in field surveys, ecological modeling, critical habitat assessment, bird and bat monitoring, preparation of Biodiversity Action Plans and biodiversity planning.
- Familiarity with Indian biodiversity laws (e.g., Wildlife Protection Act, Forest Conservation Act) and global frameworks (e.g., TNFD, IUCN Red List).
- Prior experience working with consultancy firms, corporates, or government agencies is preferred.
- Prior experience in driving client engagements and programs. Experience in dealing with clients on a day-to-day basis and managing client interactions independently
- Global project delivery experience
- Stellar academic credentials; additional certifications and upgrading skills by trainings
- Knowledge and/or experience leading projects in key topics / areas of ESG, including Climate & Sustainability
- In-depth knowledge of IFC performance standards, World Bank guidelines, iBat software, critical habitat assessment, bird & bat monitoring, biodiversity action plan
- Knowledge of NBS and related frameworks and lender requirements
Skills Required
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Word)
- Out-of-box thinking and an inclination for problem solving.
- Resource & stakeholder management abilities, with executive presence
- Leadership capabilities with the ability to mentor teammates to support their development.
- Keen business acumen and general awareness of the overall business environment, understanding the broader context in which project delivery impacts business performance.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills (written & verbal), able to build relationships and communicate effectively to positively influence peers and other stakeholders.
- Willingness to take initiative, learn independently, and share knowledge/experience with others; a fast learner who can adapt to a dynamic Sustainability landscape quickly, and can keep oneself updated with ESG innovations.

- Base location: Delhi
- This profile involves frequent travelling to client location
