Job Description –Cloud & Data Centre Expert

Position - Cloud & Data Centre Expert

Experience - 10–15 years of relevant professional experience in cloud computing, data centre infrastructure, IT consulting, Government technology programmes, infrastructure assessment or programme management.

Educational Qualification

·  Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics & Communication, Engineering, or a related discipline.

·  An MBA or postgraduate qualification in management, public policy or a related area may be an added advantage.

Role Overview - The Cloud & Data Centre Expert will provide technical and programme-level support for the assessment, planning and implementation of cloud and data centre initiatives, particularly in Government and enterprise environments. The role will involve reviewing infrastructure proposals, supporting cloud and data centre policy and framework development, assessing service-provider capabilities, and coordinating with Government departments, implementing agencies and industry stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

·  Review and assess existing and proposed cloud and data centre infrastructure, including compute, storage, networking, virtualisation, security, backup and disaster recovery, based on the scope and documentation of each assignment.

·  Review Detailed Project Reports (DPRs), concept notes, project proposals and enhancement plans for National and State Data Centres and related cloud infrastructure.

·  Provide inputs for development and review of cloud and data centre policies, guidelines, reference architectures, technical frameworks, roadmaps and best practices.

·  Support CSP empanelment and related assessment processes, including review of applications, pre-qualification and technical documents, compliance evidence, audit observations and evaluation material.

·  Assess cloud adoption and deployment options, including public, private, hybrid, multi-cloud, virtual private cloud, Government Community Cloud and sovereign cloud, as relevant to Government requirements.

·  Review infrastructure capacity, scalability, availability, redundancy, resilience and disaster recovery arrangements, including DC-DR and multi-site configurations.

·  Provide technical inputs for cloud procurement documents, including Model RFPs, technical specifications, Statements of Work, Service Level Agreements and evaluation criteria.

·  Support initiatives relating to cloud interoperability and portability, migration, vendor lock-in mitigation, and onboarding of cloud and advanced technology services on Government procurement platforms.

·  Study relevant national and international standards, audit frameworks, technology trends and best practices and prepare recommendations for their applicability to Government cloud and data centre initiatives.

·  Coordinate with Central Ministries/Departments, State Governments, CSPs, data centre operators, STQC, NIC, implementing agencies and industry stakeholders for technical assessment and resolution of implementation issues.

·  Plan and support working-group meetings, industry consultations, evaluation committee meetings and project review meetings; prepare presentations, minutes and action-taken reports.

·  Monitor project milestones, deliverables, physical and financial progress, risks and dependencies, and recommend corrective action wherever required.

·  Prepare technical reports, assessment notes, policy inputs, dashboards, presentations and draft replies to audit observations, Parliamentary questions, RTI/grievances and other official references, as assigned.

Relevant Experience and Skills

·  Experience in Government technology programmes, cloud adoption, data centre infrastructure, IT consulting, project appraisal or programme management.

·  Ability to review technical proposals and translate findings into clear recommendations, risks and action points.

·  Experience in stakeholder coordination, project monitoring, technical documentation and preparation of material for senior-level review.

Desirable

·  Relevant professional certifications in cloud, data centre, cybersecurity, IT service management or project/programme management will be an added advantage.

·  Familiarity with relevant security, service management, cloud audit and data centre availability standards will be an added advantage.
