Key Roles 

  • 3-5+ years of overall experience with at least 5 years of relevant experience in performing threat hunting activities. 
  • Certified with any threat hunting certification, or equivalent. 
  • Must have experience of performing threat hunting for at least 
  • 3 projects for large, enterprise scale Clients. 
  • Certificate from Bug Bounty, Zero Day / Vulnerability reporting 
  • Responsible for conducting all threat-hunting activities necessary for identifying the threats including zero day. 
  • Should be a seasoned threat hunter and should have experience in performing threat hunting across multiple areas such as web / network / endpoint across industry domains / surface / deep / dark web.
  • Should be able to identify threat and provide relevant suggestions to be protected from such threats
  • Hypothesis-Driven Hunting: Start with a question or hypothesis (such as "What if an attacker is using PowerShell to move laterally?").
  • Intel-Driven Hunting: Based on threat intelligence (TTPs, IOCs, actor profiles).
  • Situational Awareness: Knowing what’s normal in your environment to spot anomalies.
  • Behavioural Analysis: Focus on attacker behavior (MITRE ATT&CK TTPs) rather than IOCs.
  • Detection Gaps: Use hunting to identify weaknesses in existing detection controls. 
  • Should have expertise in working on Threat Intelligence. 
  • Platform. Shall have hands on experience on. 
  • Standard for classifying adversary TTPs
  • Supports hypothesis creation and detection logic
  • Diamond Model of Intrusion Analysis
  • Visual model connecting adversary, capability, infrastructure, and victim
  • Cyber Kill Chain (Lockheed Martin)
  • Pyramid of Pain
  • Threat Hunting Maturity Model (THMM)
  • Threat Identification (internal & external)
  • Orchestration of TI 
  • Contextual reporting and tracking 
  • Consuming multiple TI feeds and integrating them with analytics solution and ITIL tools via creating required workflows. 
  • Provide investigative support to L1 and L2 analysts for complex security incidents. 
  • Preferable designation should be AM/DM but can stretch upto Manager level if the candidate is good. 

 

Hunting experience sources such as:

  • EDR Logs (CrowdStrike, Defender...etc) Process, command line, memory.
  • Sysmon Detailed Windows endpoint telemetry
  • DNS logs Domain-based threat hunting.
  •  Proxy logs-User behavior and URL tracking.
  • NetFlow Traffic flow for lateral movement.
  • Windows Event Logs-Local audit of user, logon, services, etc.
  • Cloud audit logs(AWS CloudTrail, Azure) Cloud-focused hunting.
  •  Firewall logs Ingress/egress patterns.

 

Platform Experience:

  • SIEMs: Splunk, Sentinel, QRadar, Elastic
  • EDRs: Defender for Endpoint, CrowdStrike, SentinelOne, Carbon Black
  • Hunting Tools: Velociraptor, Osquery, Arkime, Zeek
  • TI Platforms: MISP, OpenCTI, Recorded Future
  • Query Languages: SPL, KQL, Lucene, SQL
  • Cloud: AWS GuardDuty, CloudTrail analysis, Azure logs

 

 

Desired qualifications

  • Education B.E / B.Tech (Tier 1/2) in Computer Science, Information Technology or related fields

 

Certification such as:

  • GCTI, GCFA, eCTHP + real-world case study, any related.
