Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Database Engineer to own, scale, and optimize our high-performance persistence and caching layers. The ideal candidate will bring expert-level engineering skills in PostgreSQL, Redis, and cloud/on-premise NoSQL environments to power low-latency applications, while providing secondary operational support for MySQL systems. You will be hands-on with query tuning and cluster setups, or leading architectural design and database engineering practices across client teams.

DBA resource should be capable of supporting database administration activities in cloud environments, including AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP). The DBA should have hands-on experience in managing, monitoring, troubleshooting, performance tuning, backup/recovery, high availability, and security of databases across these cloud platforms.

Key Responsibilities

• Primary Relational Engineering: Architect, monitor, tune, and maintain highly available PostgreSQL database clusters.
• Caching & Real-Time Data: Scale, secure, and optimize Redis deployments for distributed caching, session storage, and message streaming.
• NoSQL Administration: Manage, secure, and fine-tune non-relational database platforms—specifically MongoDB, AWS DynamoDB, Amazon DocumentDB, Azure Cosmos DB, and Firebase Firestore—to handle massive horizontal scalability and document storage.
• Secondary Database Support: Provide baseline maintenance, query profiling, and operational troubleshooting for secondary MySQL applications.
• Automation & Maintenance: Build and manage script-based configurations (Python, Bash, Terraform) to automate sharding, master-slave replication setups, and backups.
• Identify performance bottlenecks, optimize database execution plans, and fine-tune system memory/connection pooling (e.g., PgBouncer).
• (For Associate Director) Direct overall database technology selections, define multi-region horizontal scaling strategies, manage delivery teams, and advise clients on modern data architecture.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Primary Skills (Expert Level Required):
• Advanced technical mastery of PostgreSQL architectures, MVCC mechanics, indexing strategies, and database extensions.
• Hands-on engineering experience configuring Redis in Sentinel or Cluster modes for persistence and high throughput.
• Deep understanding of NoSQL principles, document schema design, partitioning keys, and indexing across MongoDB, DynamoDB, DocumentDB, Cosmos DB, and Firestore.
• Secondary Skills (Working Knowledge Required):
• Practical understanding of MySQL (InnoDB) internals, basic storage tuning, and replication monitoring.
• High proficiency operating within modern Linux environments, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and automation scripting.

Preferred Qualifications

• Relevant cloud or platform database certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Database, MongoDB Certified Developer, Azure Cosmos DB Developer Specialty, or PostgreSQL Professional).
• Extensive experience managing native managed database systems on major cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Solid grasp of Enterprise Integration Patterns or microservices architecture. [1]
