The Team
Deloitte’s Technology & Transformation practice can help you uncover and unlock the value buried deep inside vast amounts of data. Our global network provides strategic guidance and implementation services to help companies manage data from disparate sources and convert it into accurate, actionable information that can support fact-driven decision-making and generate an insight-driven advantage. Our practice addresses the continuum of opportunities in business intelligence & visualization, data management, performance management and next-generation analytics and technologies, including big data, cloud, cognitive and machine learning.
As a Teradata Engineer, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining Teradata databases to ensure high performance, reliability, and availability. You will provide technical support, troubleshoot issues, and optimize database operations to meet organizational needs. Your role involves working closely with development and operations teams to support data-driven applications and business intelligence.
- Proficient in Teradata tools and utilities such as Teradata SQL assistant, Import/Export
- Professional expertise in Teradata SQL programming, developing scripts, functions using Teradata utilities.
- Strong skills in analyzing fact tables and associated measures.
- Develop and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and macros.
- Ensure data, integrity, consistency, and security in Teradata environment.
- Manage Teradata environments, ensuring data integrity, performance, and security.
- Utilize Explain Plan for query tuning and index management.
- Performance database administration tasks including backup, recovery, and maintenance.
- Manage database security, user access and roles.
- Monitors database health, performance, regular maintenance activities.
- Work closely with data analysts, data scientists, and business stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver solutions.
- Provide technical guidance and support to team members on Teradata best practices.
- Document database designs, processes, and procedures.
- Develop aggregation strategies to summarize and consolidate data for reporting and analysis purposes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and translate them into ETL specifications.
- Conduct thorough testing and validation of processes to ensure data integrity and quality.
- Monitor and troubleshoot issues in a timely manner to minimize downtime and disruptions.
Experience:
- 2-10 years of experience in Teradata tools and utilities
- Strong background in relational Database (Oracle/SQL/Postgres)
- Hands-on experience with Teradata SQL programming, developing scripts, functions using Teradata utilities.
Soft Skills:
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Flexibility to meet critical deadlines as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related field
- Certification in related technologies is desirable.
- Experience/Willingness working in Support Role
Location and way of working:
- Base location: Bangalore.
- This profile involves occasional travelling to client locations.
