Your work profile

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Database Administrator specializing in PostgreSQL and EDB Postgres (EPAS) to manage enterprise-grade on-premise environments. The role involves designing and implementing high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) solutions, performance tuning, security hardening, and leading modernization initiatives, including Oracle-to-Postgres migrations. 

• Architecture & High Availability
• Design and manage HA/DR solutions using Streaming Replication, Logical Replication, Patroni, repmgr, pgpool-II, and EDB Failover Manager (EFM).
• Plan capacity, WAL strategies, and storage optimization for large-scale deployments.
• Administration
• Install, configure, patch, and upgrade PostgreSQL and EPAS clusters.
• Implement robust backup & recovery strategies using pgBackRest, Barman, and perform PITR and DR drills.

• Performance & Optimization
• Conduct query tuning using pg_stat_statements, EXPLAIN ANALYZE, and auto_explain.
• Optimize indexes (B-tree, GIN/GiST, BRIN), partitioning, vacuum/autovacuum, and statistics for performance.
• Security & Compliance
• Configure SCRAM-SHA-256, SSL/TLS, pg_hba.conf policies, and RBAC.
• Implement Row-Level Security (RLS) and integrate with LDAP/Kerberos for enterprise authentication.
• Oracle Compatibility & Migration
• Utilize EPAS Oracle-compatible features (packages, functions, synonyms) for migration projects.
• Use EDB Migration Toolkit and Replication Server for Oracle-to-Postgres modernization.
• Monitoring & Automation
• Implement monitoring with Prometheus/Grafana, pgMonitor, and PEM.
• Automate routine tasks using Bash, Python, and Ansible; integrate with CI/CD pipelines.
• Leadership & Collaboration
• Mentor junior DBAs and lead incident management and root cause analysis.
• Collaborate with application and infrastructure teams for schema design and performance reviews

Key skills required: 

• Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
• 9–15 years of DBA experience with strong PostgreSQL and EPAS expertise in on-premise production environments.
• Hands-on experience with HA/DR, replication, and failover strategies.
• Strong knowledge of performance tuning, indexing, partitioning, and vacuum strategies.
• Proficiency in Linux administration and scripting (Bash/Python).
• Familiarity with monitoring tools (Prometheus/Grafana, PEM) and automation frameworks.
• Experience with Oracle-to-Postgres migration using EDB tools.
• Knowledge of pgBouncer, pgpool-II, and advanced PostgreSQL extensions (PostGIS, TimescaleDB).
• Certifications: PostgreSQL Professional or EDB Postgres Advanced DBA.
