As a Deputy Manager in our Engineering AI & Data Team, you’ll build and nurture positive working relationships with teams and clients with the intention of exceeding client expectations.
Role Description: Engineering Manager - Full Stack Engineering
We are seeking an Engineering Manager – Full Stack Engineering who combines strong people's leadership, hands-on technical depth, and modern execution practices. This is a player-coach role, where you will spend approximately 50% of your time coding while managing one or more Scrum pods delivering mission-critical enterprise platforms.
A key expectation for this role is day-to-day, practical use of AI to improve engineering productivity, quality, and speed. You will champion AI adoption, continuously learn new AI capabilities, and coach engineers on how to use AI responsibly and effectively across the software development lifecycle.
Preferred Skills/Experience:
· Proven track record of building and leading high-performing engineering teams
· Strong experience with:
o Backend: Java/Spring Boot, Node.js
o Frontend: React, TypeScript (Angular/Vue acceptable)
· Hands-on experience designing and building microservices and REST APIs
· Cloud-native development experience on AWS (EC2, EKS, RDS, Lambda, etc.)
· Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps tooling (GitHub/GitLab, Jenkins/CloudBees, etc.)
· Strong understanding of scalability, performance, resiliency, and security patterns
· Experience using metrics, dashboards, and reports to track delivery health and operational performance
· Practical experience using AI-powered development tools to improve engineering efficiency and outcomes
As a prospective candidate, you should possess:
People Leadership & Team Development:
· Directly manage, mentor, and coach full-stack engineers, driving performance, career growth, and engineering excellence
· Act as a coach and mentor, helping engineers grow technically, professionally, and in their effective use of AI tools
· Build high-performing, psychologically safe teams that value ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement
· Lead one or more Scrum pods, ensuring predictable delivery, quality execution, and healthy team dynamics
· Foster a culture of learning, experimentation, and modern engineering practices
Hands-On Technical Leadership (≈50%):
· Actively contribute production code across backend services, frontend applications, and shared platforms
· Lead by example with high-quality coding, testing, and design practices
· Own and review solution designs with a strong focus on security, scalability, reliability, and observability
· Perform thorough, actionable code reviews and set technical standards for the team
· Troubleshoot complex issues, lead root cause analysis, and drive long-term engineering improvements
AI-Driven Engineering & Innovation (Must Have):
· Use AI as a core part of daily work, including:
o Coding and refactoring
o Code reviews and quality analysis
o Design and architecture ideation
o Documentation generation
o Identifying inefficiencies and optimization opportunities
· Champion the adoption of AI tools and workflows across the team to improve productivity, quality, and delivery speed
· Stay current with emerging AI capabilities and apply them pragmatically to real engineering problems
· Teach and coach engineers on how to effectively and responsibly use AI in day-to-day development
· Help establish best practices and guardrails for AI-assisted development within the team
Execution & Operational Excellence:
· Drive sprint planning, backlog grooming, estimation, and delivery tracking
· Proactively identify delivery risks, technical debt, and capacity constraints, and lead mitigation efforts
· Ensure all development artifacts comply with security, compliance, and regulatory standards
· Embed reliability, availability, operational excellence, and observability into everyday engineering work
· Lead post-release reviews, incident follow-ups, and continuous improvement actions
Reporting & Communication:
· Develop clear, data-driven reports for senior leadership covering delivery status, risks, dependencies, and outcomes
· Translate complex technical topics into executive-friendly updates, dashboards, and summaries
· Communicate effectively with product, architecture, operations, and business stakeholders
· Operate comfortably across distributed teams and time zones
Desired qualifications
· Bachelor's degree in computer science engineering, or equivalent practical experience
· 10–12+ years of software engineering experience with proven people management responsibility
· Demonstrated experience managing Agile/Scrum pods in delivery-focused environments
· Strong hands-on experience as a full-stack engineer in modern enterprise systems
