Senior SAP VMS Consultant (7-9 Years)

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior SAP IS-A Vehicle Management System (VMS) Consultant with 7-9 years of SAP experience and strong expertise in the automotive industry. The candidate will be responsible for leading end-to-end SAP VMS implementations, driving solution design, managing integrations, mentoring team members, and collaborating with business stakeholders to deliver scalable and efficient automotive solutions.

Key Responsibilities

SAP VMS Solution Leadership

• Lead end-to-end implementation, enhancement, and support projects for SAP IS-A Vehicle Management System (VMS).
• Drive solution design workshops and translate business requirements into scalable SAP VMS solutions.
• Provide functional leadership for vehicle lifecycle processes, including procurement, production, import, inventory management, sales, and dealer operations.
• Advise business stakeholders on industry best practices and process improvements within automotive operations.

Automotive Business Process Management

• Configure and manage vehicle master data, vehicle actions, status management, and authorization roles within SAP VMS.
• Lead the design and optimization of vehicle ordering, allocation, distribution, sales, and dealer management processes.
• Support OEM and dealer business scenarios across the automotive value chain.
• Extend VMS functionality to support vehicle service, warranty, and after-sales processes.

Integration & Solution Architecture

• Design and oversee integrations between SAP VMS and SAP SD, MM, FI/CO, and other SAP or third-party applications.
• Collaborate with technical teams to define and implement interface solutions, enhancements, and system integrations.
• Support enterprise architecture discussions and ensure alignment with business and technology standards.

Variant Configuration & Product Modeling

• Lead the design and maintenance of product configuration models using SAP LO-VC and/or SAP S/4HANA Advanced Variant Configuration (AVC).
• Manage configuration profiles, characteristics, classes, dependencies, and master data.
• Ensure accurate product structures and compatibility across vehicle variants and options.
• Support complex automotive configuration scenarios and product lifecycle requirements.

Automotive Data & Digital Vehicle Management

• Drive VIN generation, VIN genealogy, and vehicle traceability processes.
• Support data migration activities, including master data, vehicle inventory, and transactional data.
• Contribute to digital automotive initiatives leveraging SAP Digital Vehicle Hub and related SAP solutions.

Project Delivery & Governance

• Lead functional design documentation, business process mapping, gap analysis, and solution validation activities.
• Manage and support RICEFW objects (Reports, Interfaces, Conversions, Enhancements, Forms, Workflow).
• Participate in project planning, effort estimation, risk management, and stakeholder communications.
• Coordinate with offshore, onsite, and cross-functional teams to ensure successful project delivery.

Testing, Go-Live & Production Support

• Lead unit testing, system integration testing (SIT), user acceptance testing (UAT), and defect resolution activities.
• Support cutover planning, deployment activities, and Go-Live execution.
• Provide post-production support and resolve complex configuration and process issues.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives and system optimization efforts.

Leadership & Stakeholder Management

• Serve as a trusted advisor to business and project stakeholders.
• Mentor junior and mid-level consultants and support knowledge-sharing initiatives.
• Facilitate requirement gathering sessions, solution reviews, and executive-level project discussions.
• Collaborate effectively with global teams, business users, and leadership stakeholders.

Required Skills & Experience

Must-Have

• 7-9 years of SAP experience with significant experience in SAP IS-A Vehicle Management System (VMS).
• Proven experience leading at least one full-cycle SAP VMS implementation project.
• Strong expertise in SAP VMS, SAP SD, SAP MM, and automotive logistics processes.
• Strong experience with SAP LO-VC and/or SAP S/4HANA Advanced Variant Configuration (AVC).
• Experience with VIN Generation and Vehicle Lifecycle Management processes.
• Strong understanding of automotive OEM and dealer business processes.
• Experience with RICEFW objects and SAP data migration activities.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with VIN Genealogy.
• Experience with Vehicle Service and Warranty Management processes.
• Experience with SAP Digital Vehicle Hub.
• Knowledge of SAP S/4HANA Automotive solutions.
• SAP Automotive, VMS, or related SAP certifications.

Education

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
