Role: We are looking for a highly experienced Senior Database Administrator specializing in MariaDB to manage and optimize mission-critical on-premise database environments. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in MariaDB architecture, performance tuning, high availability, and security, along with leadership skills to guide junior DBAs and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Database Administration
  • Install, configure, and maintain MariaDB servers in on-premise environments.
  • Manage replication, clustering, and high availability setups (e.g., Galera Cluster).
  • Perform backup and restore operations and ensure disaster recovery readiness.
  • Monitor database health and implement proactive performance tuning.
• Performance & Optimization
  • Optimize queries, indexes, and schema design for high-performance workloads.
  • Conduct capacity planning and implement scaling strategies.
• Security & Compliance
  • Implement database security best practices, including encryption and access control.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.
• Leadership & Mentoring
  • Provide technical guidance to junior DBAs and developers.
  • Define SOPs, automation strategies, and best practices for MariaDB administration.
• Collaboration
  • Work closely with application and infrastructure teams for database integration.
  • Support migrations, upgrades, and modernization initiatives.

Additionally, you will collaborate closely with other Deloitte leadership and stakeholders dedicated to the client. Your contributions will involve nurturing new and existing relationships, supporting presales life cycles, and playing a pivotal role in driving the success of Deloitte business growth for the specific client.

Your work profile

• Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
• 9–15 years of experience in database administration with strong MariaDB expertise.
• Strong knowledge of Linux administration (CentOS, RHEL, Ubuntu).
• Proficiency in performance tuning, query optimization, and backup/recovery.
• Excellent problem-solving, leadership, and communication skills

Desired qualifications

• MariaDB Certified DBA or equivalent certification.
• Experience with automation and scripting (Shell, Python).

Location and way of working

• Base location: Mumbai
• This profile involves frequent travelling to client locations
