Technical Program Manager (TPM) – Job Description
Key Responsibilities
•
Define and manage end-to-end program plans including scope, timelines, milestones, and technical deliverables across multiple engineering teams.
•
Collaborate with engineering, product, architecture, QA, and operations teams to ensure alignment on system design, technical dependencies, and delivery plans.
•
Identify cross-team technical dependencies, risks, and bottlenecks early and proactively drive mitigation strategies to maintain program timelines.
•
Communicate program progress, risks, and key decisions to leadership and stakeholders through regular updates, technical reviews, and governance meetings.
•
Monitor program execution using engineering metrics, sprint outcomes, and release milestones to ensure delivery commitments are met.
•
Ability to handle change
•
Partner with engineering leaders and architects to ensure solutions align with platform architecture, scalability requirements, and long-term technical strategy.
•
Implement and improve program management processes, Agile practices, and delivery frameworks to enhance engineering productivity and predictability.
•
Drive resolution of complex technical or operational issues by coordinating across teams and facilitating informed decision-making.
•
Lead retrospectives and post-implementation reviews to identify lessons learned and continuously improve future program delivery.
•
Manage change control processes, including raising, tracking, and obtaining approvals for change requests, while ensuring minimal impact to program timelines and deliverables.
•
Support release and deployment activities, including coordinating with engineering and operations teams for planned weekend or off-hours deployments when required.
Qualifications
•
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field.
•
8-15 years of experience in Technical Program Management, Engineering Program Management, or Project Management within technology-driven environments.
•
Strong understanding of Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and engineering processes.
•
Experience working with Agile and/or Waterfall delivery models.
•
Familiarity with program/project tracking tools such as Jira, MS Project, Confluence, or similar platforms.
•
Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and cross-functional leadership skills.
•
Ability to translate technical concepts into clear program plans and stakeholder updates.
