1. Technical & Legal Document Handling Skills Document Verification: Recognize valid Power of Attorney forms, notarizations, witness signatures, and jurisdiction-specific requirements. Attention to Detail: Spot inconsistencies, missing information, or potential red flags in legal documents. Data Entry & Management: Accurately enter and update client information into systems while safeguarding data integrity. 2. Regulatory & Compliance Knowledge Familiarity with Legal Standards: Understand the basics of estate, elder care, and financial regulations as they pertain to POAs. Compliance Protocols: Ensure all documents meet internal policies and relevant laws (e.g., privacy laws, anti-money laundering, fraud prevention). Recordkeeping: Maintain accurate, compliant records for audit and legal purposes. 3. Client Service & Communication Effective Communication: Explain complex POA requirements to customers succinctly and kindly, both verbally and in writing. Problem Solving: Address client questions or concerns and escalate complex legal queries appropriately. Empathy & Discretion: Handle sensitive situations (e.g., health, incapacity, estate issues) with tact and confidentiality. 4. Technology Proficiency Workflow/Case Management Tools: Use systems like case management software, CRM platforms, or digital document storage solutions. 5. Critical Thinking & Judgement Risk Assessment: Recognize suspicious or potentially invalid POAs, escalate for further review, and flag legal anomalies. Decision-Making: Apply appropriate policies and judgment to accept, reject, or request additional documentation. Continuous Learning: Stay current with legal and regulatory updates that may affect POA processing. 6. Professionalism & Reliability Time Management: Process documents efficiently under varied workloads and prioritize urgent or sensitive cases. Organizational Skills: Keep workflows organized to manage multiple cases simultaneously without error.
