Key Responsibilities:
We are seeking an accomplished Engineering Manager – Palo Alto XSIAM to lead the design, development, and optimization of our Palo Alto Cortex XSIAM platform within the Cyber Defense organization.
The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of experience in cybersecurity engineering and SOC operations, with deep technical expertise in Palo Alto’s Cortex XSIAM and XSOAR platforms.
This role will drive platform scalability, detection engineering, data analytics, and automation initiatives, while leading a team of engineers to deliver cutting-edge security visibility and operational excellence.
- Platform Ownership: Lead end-to-end architecture, implementation, and lifecycle management of Palo Alto Cortex XSIAM for enterprise and MSSP environments.
- Engineering Leadership: Manage and mentor a team of SIEM engineers, detection engineers, and SOAR developers, fostering innovation and technical excellence.
- Detection Engineering: Oversee the creation and tuning of custom XQL queries, correlation logic, analytic rules, and behavioral detections mapped to MITRE ATT&CK.
- Data Onboarding & Normalization: Direct the ingestion and normalization of diverse telemetry sources (firewalls, EDR, cloud logs, identity, network, and SaaS apps) into the XSIAM data lake.
- Automation & Orchestration: Guide the development of Cortex XSOAR playbooks and automated workflows to enhance enrichment, correlation, and response efficiency.
- Architecture & Scalability: Define best practices for data schema, retention policies, and ingestion pipelines to ensure high-performance, large-scale XSIAM deployments.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with SOC operations, threat intelligence, and cloud engineering teams to align detections and improve contextual awareness across incidents.
- Platform Optimization: Continuously refine analytics logic, enrichments, and integrations to improve detection accuracy, reduce false positives, and enhance system performance.
- Integration Management: Supervise integration of multiple Palo Alto products (Cortex XDR, Prisma Cloud, Cortex Data Lake, NGFW, ADEM) and third-party tools (O365, AWS, Okta, CrowdStrike).
- Governance & Standards: Establish engineering policies for rule management, parser versioning, documentation, and quality assurance within the XSIAM environment.
- Incident Response Support: Provide escalation-level technical support to SOC analysts during critical incidents, assisting in RCA and forensic analysis via XQL queries.
- Reporting & Metrics: Deliver engineering dashboards tracking ingestion health, rule efficacy, automation adoption, and system uptime.
- Innovation & R&D: Stay updated on Palo Alto’s XSIAM roadmap and new capabilities; pilot advanced analytics, AI-driven detections, and adaptive correlation models.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or Information Technology.
- 10+ years of experience in cybersecurity engineering, SIEM/SOAR administration, or SOC architecture.
- Minimum 5+ years of direct hands-on or leadership experience with Palo Alto Cortex XSIAM and XSOAR.
- Expertise in XQL (Cortex Query Language), detection lifecycle management, and data analytics workflows.
- Proven experience managing log ingestion pipelines, schema design, and correlation logic in large-scale SOC environments.
- Deep understanding of threat detection, response workflows, and behavior-based analytics.
- Strong leadership skills with experience building and guiding high-performing engineering teams.
- Proficiency in Python, JSON, or REST API integrations for extending platform capabilities.
- Familiarity with MITRE ATT&CK, NIST CSF, ISO 27001, and related frameworks.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and project delivery skills.

- Palo Alto Networks Certified Security Automation Engineer (PCSAE)
- Palo Alto Networks Certified Security Engineer (PCNSE)
- CISM / CISSP / CCSP / ITIL v4 / PMP (preferred for governance and leadership roles)
- Cloud Security Certifications: AWS, Azure, or GCP Security Engineer (advantageous)
